Sony Smash Bros. is 60fps and native on Vita. But Bluepoint are well known for being tech wizards.

Uncharted is really pretty in motion. Shooting feels a bit weird though or maybe my skills are just rusty.

Once you get used to the gyro it feels pretty good.

I took the hand me down PS vita and so it is now mine MUHAHAHAHA. Already got a backlog for it too. How is CoD, Resistance, and Unit 13? I want a shooter of some sort.

Unit 13 is the best for single player.

CoD is the the best for multiplayer.

That reminds me, I need to pick up Unit 13 at some point.  Did they patch it's Vita-related save-killing problems?

Only Vita game I sold off.  Hated the port.

But I will give Sigma 2 a chance.

oh yeah, like that has a chance in hell of being any better :lol

even if it's a 100% perfect 60fps port of NGS2...still worse than NGS+ :smug

I would hope that it's a better port after over a year later, yeah.   :o

Same engine, but more details in everything.  It'll still probably be 30fps.  Hopefully there won't be any forced motion/touch control bullshit.

but it's irrelevant for me, I'm not a big fan of Sigma 2 at all.   I'll still probably get it when it's cheap just cause i have to play every NG (except anything related to NG3.)

I respect any dev that does their best to stick to 60 fps, even if I don't like the game.

me too, that's why I liked Team Ninja last gen.  Smooth running games, always delayed if they weren't finished.

but then Itagaki lost his leverage at the company or something and had to churn stuff out on a stricter schedule...the rest is history.

I will likely get the Steam version of Sine Mora, but it's impressive that he (they?) managed to get 60 FPS at native resolution.

Judging from the demo, it's native res without any anti-aliasing.  Still looks very nice, but not Virtua Tennis or Zero Escape 'perfect' image quality nice.  I can't imagine most games will hit that.

From what I've been told SCEA has backed off the "No ports" attitude, so if something like Suikoden I & II were to be made today they would get through. But Konami wouldn't localize it anyways, lol.

So yeah, Gravity Rush seems pretty cool so far and it's definitely the best free Vita game available on PSN right now.  Really like that one.  Uncharted Golden Abyss is all sorts of lols.  What's going on with that series?  3 and this one are freaking awful.

I was surprised to see how well PSone games look on it though.  I downloaded FF9 and it looks like how I remembered it originally on my old CRT.  I might have to get some more PSone games on this thing now.

Uncharted GA is really good and shouldn't be mentioned with the shitty U3.  GA starts weak, gets good around the middle, and gets great by the end.  I'd put it above U1 & U3.  Make sure you use the motion controls for lining up shots; it's awkward at first but makes the shooting pretty good and satisfying when you get it down.

Uncharted's controls suck shit.   and after 5 seconds of platforming and seeing shit crumbling everywhere around him, for presentation purposes only and not for anything that could possibly kill you while climbing, I rolled my eyes pretty hard.  Not doing this again.

Golden Abyss starts out rough as you get used to the aiming with both the sticks and the gyro. And the touch gimmicks like the bridge shit are more common early on. After that it's smooth sailing until the last two boss fights with too long QTE swipe battles. But that may be better than a bullet sponge you have to shot in the head 10 times. i dunno

Got my Vita today. Played a bunch of Gravity Daze, which seems pretty neat. Now I'm playing Wipeout and I gotta say, I'm really impressed by the graphics. It's almost worth the 30 fps hit.

I suppose the biggest downside to 30 fps is that the game isn't nearly as fast as Wipeout HD's highest speed class (nevermind high level Zone lol). Ah well, it's still fun.

Combat missions in Wipeout are terrible and there are way too many of them.

Sliding race missions in Gravity Rush... It's like everything that sucks about motion/touch screen games rolled into one amazingly shitty mechanic. WHY

I do like the music & atmosphere in GR tho. And speaking of music, I wish Wipeout had custom soundtrack support. Especially since it has dubstep in its tracklist.

Yeah.  Ultimately the reason I like Gravity Daze a lot is how fun it is to control--except for the sliding.  The way you do it, how you need to turn the system, and waggle it to jump.  If it had normal controls I could see it being fun with the drifting and all, but it's ones of those moves never used outside of those races.

And Vita has system wide custom soundtracks soundtracks like the 360.  Just run the music app in the background, turn down the game's audio, and it works fine.  I can't remember if it's holding or double tapping the home button to bring up the quick menu to control volume and stuff.

Unfortunately, I doubt it will have the audio distortions when you go through tunnels like in the PS3 version.  That's the shame about system wide custom soundtracks.  No cool integration like PGR2 having a radio DJ talking between your songs.

It also has a nearly universal screenshot feature that's home+start (I think).  Some games don't allow it or prevent you from taking pictures in certain spots.

Oh, I didn't know it had OS-level custom soundtracks. That's nice. I put some songs on my system to see if that worked, but they stopped playing after I tried to back out of the music app. I guess I just closed it down instead of minimizing it. I did know you could take screen shots at least, but I had no idea how to do it.

Maybe I should read the manual some time. :lol

Only time I consulted the manual (as in, went to google and searched for it) was to see if I could mute the system without turning the volume all the way down.  On PSP there was a music button you could hold down.  On Vita, you hold down both volume buttons to mute the system.

I still don't know what Near is.

Sony have announced a new PlayStation Vita bundle, which will be released next week in celebration of the PlayStation Plus service arriving on the Vita.

Dubbed the “PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection PS Vita Bundle,” it contains a 3G PlayStation Vita system, a 1-year subscription for PlayStation Plus, a Unit 13 game voucher, and a 4GB Memory Card for $300.

$300 is a steep price to pay for a portable, but Sony point out you’ll get access to seven different games, including the Unit 13 voucher. The other six are provided as part of PlayStation Plus. As previously reported, they are: Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Wipeout 2048, Jet Set Radio HD and more.

I wonder if they're going to putting slip covers on old retail 3G units. They did that with PSPgo where they simply put a slip cover over the original box. I can't imagine they're moving enough 3G units to be worth it to make more.

Got my Vita in the mail yesterday.

The Vita is slick as hell, design wise.  The only problem I have with it is that the buttons should have been a little larger.  Formatted my 32 GB card, got my PSN account set up (did not enter in the PS+ codes yet), played about half an hour of Lumines Electric Symphony (not a bad game but for some reason, none of the sequels ever managed to best the original in terms of music and presentation), and browsed the PS Store.  The PS Store to me was amazing to me in terms of content that is available for the Vita.  A lot of PSP games I missed, several PS One games I never got around to playing are out there, and many of them are at somewhat decent prices.  I could see myself spending the majority of my Vita time playing these games because it isn't like there's shitloads of Vita content out there to keep me busy amirite?

I'm kind of joking about that because looking at the software that is available, there's a lot more on Vita that is worth buying than the 3DS at the moment, in spite of the fact that the Vita barely sold anything.  I do want to get some more games with this thing (got Hot Shots Golf and Lumines) but not for much ($25 at most).  However, some of the games like Disgaea 3 might end up going out of print and go for $80 rather than $20 brand new so I might have to bite on some of the games that might go that way.  Also it seems like it integrates the touchscreen quite a bit.  I didn't get a screen cover for it but I may have to.

Overall I think I will spend a lot of time on this thing.  A shame that Sony will most likely drop it here in the next several months but if they keep the PS Store open (or let us keep the software we do purchase on it), I should get my money's worth out of it.

I don't think they're going to drop the Vita. I think they're gonna try to salvage it by leveraging it into a Wii U style accessory for the PS3/4. Yeah, retail store games are pretty much dead by this point, but I believe they'll shift over to cross-play smaller PSN games, as well as supplemental stuff for larger games like the Vita DLC that's coming out for LBP 2 soon. I also think they'll focus more on remote play in the future. It'll basically become a Wii U Gamepad that you can take with you. I wouldn't be surprised to see them start packing it in a bundle with the CheaPS3 later on in 2013.

I got the platinum in Gravity Rush.  That game's pretty good. Only things I didn't like were the load times (retrying a side mission takes way too long) and the gravity slide races, but even those aren't so bad once you level it up (so you can still get a gold while crashing into a bunch of stuff). Definitely recommendable to just about any Vita owner.

I had to look up a new command because Jet Set Radio suddenly shut down my system and it wouldn't turn back on (PS logo kept flashing).  Holding down the power button for 30 seconds takes you to a help menu or something to restart it from there.

picked up MGS HD Collection.  MGS2 not being a solid 60fps (only 60 when it's indoors without any water/fog effects) sucks.

but Transfarring is pretty cool.  I didn't realize it offered a non-PS+ cloud save!

Touch controls are weird, but took 5 minutes to get used to.

a passable port overall.   7.834/10

So I'm pretty convinced that this machine's market is only for us nutsos on message boards. I let my 17 yo brother borrow it for a couple days with all my games. I have at least 12 not including downloadables. He said it was cool but wasn't something he really would want to spend money on. background, he's the stereotypical "bro" gamer. Plays Halo, COD, basketball games.

I just hope this system gives me a couple years of decent use.

i agree.   "dual analog portable" just doesn't drop any bro panties.   Despite it being a very logical and awesome evolution of the PSP, it's not what the broader market is looking for.   They like ipads and ipods, where gaming is there, but not the main feature and inexpensive.

I never had a psp or a ps1, so even if games dried out today, I wouldn't be upset about my purchase

that's like...good for Vita but not enough to justify its existence  :lol

if it's like this next year, the thing might be dead in 2014, unless it's somehow a significant part of the PS4.   But I'm guessing it's only functionality will be improved remote play, to ape WiiU.

agreed...well, i owned both but there are always more good games to play (especially PS1.)  I'm super pissed about Phantasy Star Portable 2 not working though, especially now that I'm reading that PSO2 is not so great.

So I'm pretty convinced that this machine's market is only for us nutsos on message boards.

again, i absolutely believe they'll try to re-position it as a PS3/4(Orbis, whatever) accessory/controller  and salvage whatever market is left for it

it wouldn't cost them much, as the hardware is already out there

they really have nothing at all to lose and everything to gain from such a move

i hope you don't mean me since I was talking about sales and shit.   I don't want to be mistaken for some forum warrior who looks at everything from the corporate CEO perspective.  :yuck

as far as I'm concerned, having NGS, UMVC3, and MGS2 + 3 (the real version of 3), will keep it head and shoulders above anything the 3DS gets (and by extension, all other mobile gaming.)   Those are 4 perennial games for me...whether they're ports or not doesn't factor in for me, they're portable versions of games I might replay the rest of my life.   That probably also beats anything WiiU will get, unless Nintendo pull absolutely brilliant Mario, Zelda and Metroid out of their ass for the system, rather than "by the numbers plus [extra thing]" versions.

Leader of the Ninja Dog Clan presents boobie fighting game on Vita:

There's people bitching about it being another port on Vita, but given this thing's sales you cannot complain assuming it's a well done port.

Also, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD is scheduled for December 18th. Will be $14.99 and supposedly native res.
