I tried to play some Jet Grind Radio.  Apparently there is a bug in the game where it takes you to the pause menu automatically.  You'd try to get out of it and it would pop up again.  The internets tell me that the solution is just to exit the game completely and then reload it.  Tried it three times and got the same problem.  Tried again later and still, same issue.  Not sure what that is about.

I played some Wipeout 2048 and I don't like using the R trigger for acceleration so I thought about swapping it with the X button.  Great visuals though and seems like it could be a lot of fun.

is it just me or do screenshots of vita games universally suck?

whether they're on the PSN store, a website, taken by users...they all look at least half as good as they would on the system.  The OLED can't be doing that much work, can it?

it's on a game by game basis - some of the screen functions add logos, filters, some take dumpster screen shots.

Screenshots look pretty nice if you scale them down to about half the size. At native resolution they're all horrible.

Actual video game released on American Playstation Vitas!

It's EDF 3 Portable, it's $40, and it's DD only.

I want EDF but $40 seems pretty steep.  You can get the 360 version now for what, $20?  Less?

But it does have online play added (not sure if the Japanese version did or not)...

yeah.  i saw people saying it wasn't worth that price, then I played and saw how simple the gameplay is and realized I'd been a bit ripped off.  It's fun though.  Very good short burst game, with some unlockable crap to keep you going.

EDF gets way better on the higher difficulties because you'll have more weapons available and you have to actually use some strategy to deal with the waves of enemies. The worst thing about the game is how you can grind forever to trivialize everything; I wish they would get rid of that for EDF4 (and beyond), but they probably never will.

Still don't want to pay $40 for a handheld port of a 6 year old game though.

Yea you can buy it direct download on live for $20, but this has added online and you can be a jet packer as well which wasn't in the 360 version? It probably should be $30 but EDF is awesome so if you've got a Vita fuckin' buy it anyway! :gun

Through the weak link in security--the PSP emulator.  You can only work with PSP mode though, there's no Vita homebrew scene or anything.  Nothing outside the PSP emulator is accessible.

its just PSP stuff via the emulator but since its sandboxed the Vita stuff is alright for now (until someone finds something)

Anyone here done the Uno hack that can answer some basic questions for me:
--can you still go online when you're not using the hack (i.e. buy from the store and play vita games online)?
--can you sync trophies still?

Welp, time to fetch that Type-0 ISO just in case. English translation project is a go!

Yes, until they force an update. In which case:

1) Continue to use the emulator hack without updating, though losing trophy sync/PSN access
2) Update, losing the emulator hack until they find a new one.

Nice! We're actually getting several new games today in Europe. I'll get Jet Set Radio since it's free and there is no way I'm paying €39.99 for Earth Defense Force 2017. Has anyone here played Orgarhythm or Sumioni: Demon Arts? Those are more reasonably priced.

did the uno trick-- it's really shockingly easy to use.  FTP transfers take some time though.  Much faster if you set the vita down by the router and have your PC ethernet cable plugged in.

BBS on Vita looks nice

just keep your eye out for the next game with this thread:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=490040

there's usually a couple day window where everyone knows what game it is before sony pulls it

BBSFM controls like a dream on this system.  so much wasted potential.
