the vita browser needs a "ctrl+F" search function.  I use it for FAQs all the time and it's annoying to always scroll through a huge FAQ from the top.

Monster Hunter Franchise "Handheld" Exclusive for 3 Years on 3DS
Quote
Apparently the original source for the DQ7 rumor: http://club.tgfcer.com/thread-6398778-1-1.html

1. 7th entry of a famous RPG for the 3DS.
2. 3DS revision.
3. Something about a contract between Nintendo and Capcom saying no MH on other handheld systems for 3 years.

Also, this was in 2010 from the same person: http://club.tgfcer.com/viewthread.php?tid=6266776

- Rumor about MH3 on the 3DS.

Vita fans having a hard time understanding that even if/when the 3 years is up, nintendo could bid and win another 3 years. not like they need monster hunter at this point.

Huff, I mentioned this in the other thread but the Nthing flipside is that they are failing to understand that even if the Vita still has an awful user base that as long as they put enough cash on the table it doesn't matter - vita would get its MH.

That said - this all just means there's an exclusivity option expiring - come on MS, get in there for a proper next gen console version ! Lol

Well, the biggest improvement we have seen in years is the work on the 3ds version - and they outsourced that game ! loool - and then did the up port to WiiU themselves (which is a bit of a mixed bag)

totally. i don't see why nintendo wouldn't bid again. not because they need it but to keep sony in the handheld graveyard. and if wiiu keeps tanking hard, they are going to need the 3ds and whatever comes next to be not only top dog but the only dog

yeah, MS exclusivity would make zero sense.  the game's biggest market is on handhelds in Japan, which has fuck all to do with MS.

Yeah, but the big caveat (if this is even true) is that that assumes that, whenever this deal expires, Sony is still willing to pay through the nose to attempt to save Vita.  I don't get the sense that they're even willing to do that now.

I swear sometimes you having basic comprehension issues - I never said anything of the sort.

But please also note that there is ALREADY an X360 console exclusive Monster Hunter - I'm surprised a series fan like yourself would have missed that fact  8)

MS don't have to bid for a handheld version nor then would capcom have to lose out on their other sales. HD upgrades of the existing handheld games sell like ass - but we know the Wii game sold over 1m here and around the same in the states. So just give me my dream and force lazy cap com devs to spunk out a -true- HD monster hunter (which would require MS standing over them with whips of course...)

So why oppose to sharing something with the rest of us?

Lol, keep believing that.

We've been through this and you end up admitting it in the end - do we have to do the same dance again or should we just point to the previous discussion?

As for the roll eyes - I'm sorry that I don't share your belief that a poor performing mildly polished stuttering port of a 3DS game is a true HD Monster Hunter - then again, i guess I just lack that Nthing gene where "almost good enough by some arbitrary benchmark from the past" is something I can settle for. Or it might just be that I'm just wanting some truly huge improvements - I'm sure as this will be your 2nd Monster Hunter experience that you aren't that bothered for an upgrade where as for me the Wii U outing is number -eleven- - oops, 12 (forgot the 3D enabled and unwavering 60fps in non-3d 3rdP 1080p up port that Sony did for Capcom - shame about the UI and bugs). "into the series" and all that

This gen I would have been pleased with a HD monster hunter game that looked like this

But now the bar is going to go up again once next gen finally gets shown off in the near future. I know I'm kidding myself but a lazy CapCom married to a lazy Nintendo is basically this :

I mean - have you seen MH4?! It looks worse than MH3G ... How much effort does it take?! Or maybe that's on purpose so they can easily port to the PSP - I put nothing past these lazy fuckers

And the distinction is that you will by your own admission only play the entries on Nintendo hardware , right?

So - as i said "into the series - but will only play the entries on Nintendo hardware" - so I will keep believing that.

Or , gasp, are you now going to go multiplatform?

I'm not giving you shit in the same way as your MGS example - I'm pointing out in a recent time frame you could have , like others, played Monster Hunter on at least three other platforms. You didn't and got into it on the Wii which is fine - the beef comes from the low standards : it's all new and shiny to you, it's not to people who have played the franchise since the first game. So theres a distinction and thus why it's painful that capcom continue to put as little effort as possible in upgrading the game visually/technically.

I started playing the series with Tri, so yes so far. Unless there was some other MH game that was localized since Tri released that I'm unaware of?

so - again - we are repeating the argument where you end up agreeing....

you will play 3ds MH, you will play Wii U MH...

... but you won't play Vita MH, or PS4 MH, or PS5 MH, or X720 MH ... right?

so , again, as i say - you are a fan of the series.... but you'll only play the Nintendo entries... yes or no?

again, i thought we'd established this : there's a difference between being "a fan of the series" -full stop- and a "fan of the series*"

Erm, no, incorrect. I wouldn't buy a system for a spinoff or an enhanced version of a game I already own but I would buy a system for say, MH5.

You must have missed when I put Tri in my 5 favorite games of this gen. For reference, Overkill Uncut, an enhanced edition of a game I played the shit out of and is also on my top 5 list, almost made me get a PS3. It's still  the deciding factor on me getting a PS3 over a 360.

I *think* it's possible to play and enjoy VLR without playing through 999 first (the game tries to supplement you with explanations and info files) but I don't think they're nearly enough. The connections are strong, especially when going after the true ending. If you're dedicated enough you can always watch a youtube walkthrough such as this:

Yes, there are a few. That was Uchikoshi's plan even before the sequel materialized and any specifics were nailed down (returning characters + new ones). The same is also happening for the third game, as he already stated that 999's protagonist will be prominently featured, among other characters.

As Link Zelda Gannon once said in the VLR thread, 999 feels more contained and complete. That's mostly because at the time there were no plans for a sequel... VLR on the other hands ends on a serious cliffhanger. The whole game could be considered a prologue that sets everything up for the third game that will ultimately tie 999 and VLR together.

That said, VLR is still a great game that plays really well on the Vita.
