Finished P3P and am halfway through 4 now, loving the shit out of it. I just saw that P2 Innocent Sin is up on the store, but I'm kinda afraid to buy for fear that I'm that guy who loved FF12 and then was disappointed with FF2 because one is sparkly and the other is unplayable bullshit that didn't age well

P2 hasn't aged poorly. It's still great in 2013. Not that I've played it in 2013 mind you, but I got Innocent Sin for psp when it came out and it's groovy. Depending on your threshold for oldschool hardcore rpgs you may come out loving it more than p3/p4.

There is and it was in limbo for quite a while.  They finally couldn't bring it over and they're releasing this in lieu.   The only reason they gave for not localizing was that things came up which wouldn't let them do it how they wanted to do it, no more details that i know of

you guys don't understand...you could tell me the game doesn't even boot and I'd have to try it for myself.  I bought DOAX2 on launch.  I bought the NG3 CE on launch for the demo code (thankfully people considered the CE scarce for some weird reason after launch, so I could resell everything minus the code about 2 days later for about the price I paid.)

eh, it's basically $20 off since I used GS credit for the card.

Literally as soon as I read bork's posts, my copy of Sigma 2 arrived. :lol

I played through the first chapter on Mentor, since it's unlocked from the start. The framerate is terrible practically every time there's an enemy on screen, let alone 5 or 6. The controls feel somewhat sluggish/unresponsive, probably as a result of the framerate. The game doesn't look very good either since it's low-res.

so yeah, not a good port.

Some ports are fantastic, others are shit.  It's pretty obvious Team Ninja Dog is to blame for this.  I read that Hayashi is not involved with the DOA team so DOA5+ should be fine.

So everything was much smoother until I wall-jumped to the outside area with all the Sakura trees...then it was a lag-filled mess again.  This is the same stage as the first tag level.  Maybe it's just certain areas?

Yup, it is certain areas/levels.  The other two available tag stages played better, although they still ran noticeably worse than the game does in story mode and the resolution dropped quite a bit.

I wanna say I was tricked, but no, that sentence says it's playable on Vita.   It wouldn't make sense to only point out that P4G is "playable on Vita" when the rest of them are too.  And you wouldn't say a Vita game is "playable" on Vita, you'd just say it's a Vita game.

so, there must be some mistake.  Hopefully the fix also fixes Crash, Spyro, and FFV

I played through chapter 2 with the gore off (I played through it twice actually because I had to restart due to a glitch). It does seem a little smoother, but it still feels a little choppy sometimes. At least it's playable.

There's gotta be a way to get OOB in this game and I'm gonna find it.  He clips through everything so much.

Yeah, the framerate with blood on is like the Ch.10 stairway in vanilla NG2, except without the artistic intent.   Still pretty shit without it too, considering it's buffering moves...NGS1+ never got that bad for me, but I haven't done MNM yet.  None of the more insane trials in NGS1+ even drop so much that it buffers moves.   All that bloom can't be helping.  It was weird that the fight before the 1st statue with all the machine gun ninjas is a slideshow, but then the fight with the statue is fine.   I got some spawn point to glitch out so that the enemies just popped onto the screen randomly.

What a mess!  I gotta keep going to see how bad it gets in parts.  Glad they had Hard unlocked from the start like NGS1+.   but Mentor in this is still easier than Normal in NG2...this combat engine was made to tear up 10 ninjas at a time!

easy way to get the 100 hit trophy-- on mentor, kill all but one of the machine gun ninjas in the first scene.  Don't hit the last one at all, then get some distance, neutral jump, and throw shurikens.  Gotta keep jumping and doing it because they start blocking if you throw them while standing.

Some of you have noticed that Persona 2 Eternal Punishment, a PS One Classic that is playable on PS3, but does not play on PSP and PS Vita.

The title should have been set up to be compatable on PSP and PS Vita, however, at this time, it will not be able to be downloaded on to these devices. We're on it!

I've blocked this thread from replies so you can easily subscribe to it and be notified when we make an update on this issue. The goal is to ensure this game can be played on PS Vita as intended. I do not have an ETA on this at the moment, but to manage expectations, worst case scenario (again, worst case scenario), it may be a few weeks.

Thanks for your patience, and we apologize for the inconveneince.

I think NGS1+ is fine, despite having half the framerate.  It's responsive and does what I want it to do.  I play a little worse than on console, but it's portable. fucking. ninja. gaiden.  There are framedrops at times, depending on what effects are on screen at the time.  The amount of enemies doesn't seem to make the fps fluctuate nearly as much as fire, fog, bloom, etc.  Makes sense why NGS2+ shits the bed in the first stage--bloom everywhere and they're on the same engine.

Just one chapter into NGS2+ and I've already had a bunch of unusual fuck ups thanks to the framerate and slow down.  They should've compromised the visuals a bit more wisely rather than rushing it out just barely acceptable.

and yeah Oscar, action games have been diminishing returns in terms of technical performance (and gameplay too, but that's a different question that I don't want to start sperging on at midnight.)  NGBlack and DMC1-4 ran near perfect.  NG2 had an unstable fps, Revengeance has framedrops, Bayonetta 360 is even pretty shabby, despite being in the "holy trinity" (for people who never played GodHand, I guess...which pushes Bayo to 4th place, imo.)  NGS2 PS3 is fine but the game is blah (see, knowing ahead of time about the performance isn't even the saddest part of this purchase.  I wasn't much of a fan to begin with :lol

Less enemies across the board...I don't think there are any fights in NGS2 that are as big as the ones in NG2.

Soul Sacrifice Famitsu review: 10/9/9/9 37/40

-Over 300 types of magic with a deep crafting system.
-About 25 hours to complete story on single player, multiplayer content expands this to several hundred hours.
-Superb storytelling through the grimoire system and its journal entries.
-Story is quite moving and definitely worth the time to experience.
-Huge variation of spells makes for extremely deep tactical multiplayer experience.
-Team work and role assignment in multiplayer has immense potential.
-Dying and being sacrificed is still fun and does not affect rewards.
-Being able to continue fighting even when dead is extremely welcome feature.
-The dark fantasy theme is well portrayed and written, although it may be too dark for some people's taste.
-Difficulty level is very high, but the high speed action is extremely fun and rewarding to learn.
-Salvation and Sacrifice system adds surprisingly profound and meaningful choice to the game.
-It might be "another hunting game" but it is overflowing with originality.
-Single player is fun in its own right, but multiplayer is where the game really shines. The more the merrier!

Tag missions were in NGS2 on PS3...with online play.  They took out the network feature and the framerate/slowdown problems make it play shittier.   :-\  I'm hoping Ninja Race mode will at least be good.

and ninja race is pretty good too.

The framerate seems on par with NGS1+ in ch.2.  Ch.1 has open areas and larger draw distance...so chapters with that might suck more than ones in more confined spaces.

how is MNM in NGS2?  Mentor is a bit disappointing.

It's not much different. There are harder enemy waves, but they're not a problem to deal with because the battles are so small. Pretty much the only thing that killed me was getting hit by a grab since all of them do like 50-80% damage.

+ Ayane's chapter was hard because she does pitiful damage.

So it seems that Phantasy Star Online 2 (retail copy only, not the free download version from JPSN) will work with U.S. and Euro PSN accounts!  All the download content and in-game purchases are not done on PSN and are done through Sega's own online store.  Makes sense since you can use the same account from the PC version on Vita.

I think I'm importing this now.

The main campaign of NG2+ plays pretty well after applying those tricks - solid 30 FPS most of the time. Tag mode is still a mess. Not sure why they even bothered when the system can't handle it.

At least most of the game is playable.

P2:IS/EP have both aged, but it's worth it for the story. You have to ask yourself though: Do I want to wade through some high enemy random encounter rates?

Still, they're both my favorite in the series due to the casts of both.

I don't think a decent looking 60 FPS 3D action game is impossible on Vita, it's just going to have almost no lighting effects or AA. Or Sony can pull a PSP and stop underclocking it via firmware.

At least the stills look pretty, right?

Even if they overclocked it and allowed Team Ninja to patch it it wouldn't really stablized the frame-rate/improve the frame-rate, right? I mean it's not like they optimized it or anything given how people have to turn gore off and up the camera speed to even get a stable framerate.

Also I want to play PSO2 so bad but I don't want to import and wade through moonrunes for a Japanese Sega account.  :'(

They should patch NG2 to default to those settings, if nothing else.   :lol

I don't know if I'm going to bother with importing PSO2- I wasn't aware that the game is entirely online and has no offline story stuff.  Don't really see the point in playing it on Vita when I'd only be playing online at home and I can just play it on PC instead.

But if the English version comes out as a free download on Vita, I'd totally be all over it.

Eh, the bigger/raw deal with PSO2 is the Vita version (and so anyone on PC joining those servers) is smaller rooms. It makes sense since the hardware isn't that powerful but it allows faster grind/less enemies to battle so have to grind "more" quests to do that.

But yeah, I hope they release it in English. It's a shame they didn't re-release Phantasy Star Portable 2 with the Infinity expansions.

Wait, what? Is Wild Arms free for everyone or just for PS+ subscribers?

I know IGN gave out a bunch awhile ago because it's the leading conspiracy theory as to why plus is better in Europe (IGN devalued North American plus so we don't get good games)
