As always, the screenshots look worse than the game running on the Vita OLED screen.  Something to keep in mind.

It's just a few people, but I LOL'd at a few posts on GAF saying the game looked bad:lol  Show me another portable poly-based fighting game that looks better than this does.

Man, screenshots taken outside of paused matches in spectator mode look downright AWFUL.   :lol

The game looks much better than this in motion- I think with lifebars on the screen, the resolution does take a hit.  But the screenshots make it look so much worse.  That looks like PS1!   :lol

Not my kind of game. Still looking forward to Soul Sacrifice, Dragon's Crown, and Muramasa Rebirth.

Btw how is Muramasa a bad game, exactly? Maybe they'll fix it for the Vita port?

Some other people got text messages from Gamestop to pick up reserve copies.  DOA5+ might be available everywhere tomorrow.

I didn't think it was a bad game, but it is incredibly repetitive, even for a side-scrolling action game.  They recycle the same couple of backgrounds throughout most of the game, too.

Typical Vanillaware pap -- pretty and very, very, very shallow. I'm sure the "pretty" will be more emphasized for Vita.

I had to go to the ghetto GameStop to actually get a copy. Holy fuck! This is unquestionably the best portable fighting game ever. I am blown away by how smoothly everything runs. It's like I'm playing the Xbox 360 version. I used to think that the Tekken games on PSP were the best portable fighters ever, but this one sets a new bar.

I put it as #2 behind Street Fighter X Tekken- that game not only has all the content from the console versions, plus cross-play against PS3 players with lobbies, but they added additional content too.

DOA5+ missing tag mode I can kind of understand (performance reasons?), but I don't understand the lack of lobbies.  When you play the game online on PS3/360, that's where the majority of players are.  Still an awesome, awesome port though.  Crazy to think that this is the closest thing we have to a portable version of Virtua Fighter, too.

Portable VF would be very hot.  Honestly, I don't play Final Showdown...I'll even pop in VF5 PS3 before it, which is based on the ancient rev.B of the game, since it has Quest Mode and better sound/graphics.  I actually like Quest Mode the best, since I'm not really trying to get seriously good at the game.  And the sound in FS really sucks bad.  I have to use headphones because it's a mess on my shitty TV speakers.   VF4: Evolution is also still a fucking awesome game with a robust quest mode.

Skipping DoA, I 100% dropped the PS3 version, so I'm not too interested in this port.  Plus, there's zero chance of it replacing UMVC3, which is not just my favorite fighter, but one of my favorite games right now.  I still can't get over that I'm playing a near perfect version of it on a handheld.

Crazy and sad.  DoA ain't fit to hold VF's jockstrap.  Wish SEGA would put VF on something handheld already.

I think DoA is a better "friends on the couch" fighting game series. If you've got some buddies over, and none of them are particularly experienced with fighting games, they can still pick up a few moves within seconds and have a good time.

It's worth trying.  I liked the game enough to play through it with Kisuke.  Will play through as Momohime on Vita.  There's also additional characters getting added as DLC.  IIRC the Vita version is also getting a new, better translation compared to the Wii version.

Hopefully Dragon's Crown also turns out well.  That game feels like total vaporware at this point.

DOA5.. is this a good fighting game? Boob massages aside.

Definitely.  It's still on the shallower side, but has had enough things improved/added that it's gotten itself a place in the tournament scene.

Vanilla VF over Final Showdown  :yuck

I'd be more into UMvC3 if had cross-play.  Although I have the game on all three platforms and it generally goes unplayed.

Crazy and sad.  DoA ain't fit to hold VF's jockstrap.  Wish SEGA would put VF on something handheld already.

Yes, definitely.  But I think it would be easy enough to have a good time button-mashing in VF, too. But VF just isn't flashy enough compared to other fighting games.

Posted on 18 March by Alex Moyet – SCEE Junior Product Manager

We’re really excited to announce that the magical Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is coming to PS Vita later this year!

Join the legendary Mickey Mouse on a fun-filled quest to bring a splash of colour back to Wasteland – a weird and wonderful world of forgotten Disney toons – in this sequel. Exploring alone, or alongside the loveable Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in a co-op adventure, Mickey must use his enchanted paintbrush to find new paths, solve puzzles and battle evil mechanical monsters.

Naturally, we’re making the experience even more epic using the awesome controls of the PS Vita, including front touch for greater painting accuracy and tilt controls for racing mode. Not only that, but there’s also a two-player wi-fi co-op mode exclusive to the PS Vita, so you can unleash the power of two on the go anywhere, anytime.

Stay tuned for more updates, including release date and pre-order details.

Quote
The PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy X HD will include both Final Fantasy X and X-2 on a single disc, according to a 2ch rumor* picked up by FF-Reunion.

On PS Vita, each title will apparently be sold separately.

Each game will also include its respective International edition content, according to the rumor. A release is planned for 2013.

* The information supposedly comes from next week’s issue of Jump. According to FF-Reunion, the poster has a proven track record with these types of leaks.

I'm guessing they'll just move it to PS4. FF14: A Realm Reborn won't be out until Q2 2013 and then there is FFXIII-3 in Q3. Even if they reannounce Versus at E3 it will probably be another year until it's finished. At that point they might as well go PS4 only (and possibly 720 in the west).

If they move it to next-gen it wouldn't surprise me if they wait for the install base to grow a bit though which might mean it's a 2015 title.

Some footage of One Piece Kaizoku Musou 2 finally popped up.  Looks good- has some background pop-up and I think less enemies on the screen compared to the PS3 version, but is running well.  Why did Namco-Bandai not show more of this version?   ???

The Vita versions?  I guess it's possible they won't be released in the West, but I feel pretty confident.  The PS3 version is definitely coming to the West, and is in fact the reason why FFX-2 is being done at all (SCEA forbids physical releases of single HD versions of games).  Type 0 would have come if the Vita hadn't faceplanted (the translation was well under way), and Bravely Default is coming, or at least that's the plan at the moment.

I don't know why you would localize the PS3 version of the FFX collection but not the vita version considering most of the work would be done. But then again the One Piece vita game isn't coming even though the PS3 version is :'(

So, what are they going to bundle with FF12 HD? I actually enjoyed Dirge of Cerberus when I played it, I'd take an HD version of that!

I can't imagine anything they could pack with FF12.

As for why they would release PS3 versions and not Vita?  The only scenario would be where they don't expect the Vita version to sell enough to cover physical costs.  We're not quite there yet, but in a year, we could be, I suppose.  I still think it's coming, though.  Type-0 was just a perfect storm of shit.

Why not throw in Type-0 HD with xii?   Seems like it would be a good opportunity to push out some cheap HD ports and please a whole bunch of people all at once.  Especially if XII was the international version.   I guess Square hasn't done anything that has made sense in years.  Aside from Eidos, which has somehow been running efficient as fuck since the acquisition.
