I know this game is pretty much the definition of jank, but the first Valhalla Knights game on PSP is free on North American PSN, no PS+ required: https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-ca/games/valhalla-knights/cid=UP1023-ULUS10230_00-VALHALLAKNLEGACY

had no idea injustice was getting a port, awesome.

It hasn't officially been announced yet, but a bunch of retailers have posted up listings for it. Ed Boon pretty much confirmed it before the console version shipped too.

Valhalla Knights 3's North American release is in a few weeks on Vita. XSEED is probably just trying to drum up interest in the game by giving away something that isn't bringing in any money. Of course, given this is a franchise of well known mediocrity their generosity might backfire.

PSMobile is a year old. Still going strong I bet :teehee

That said, haunt the house and life of pixel are great IMO. PSNStores Top 25 PSM Games

Also, Malicious Rebirth is out today. I hope it is a good port because the PS3 version had a bunch of slowdown if I remember correctly. It would suck if this version is even worse

This week in late Vita ports:

Injustice has officially been announced. It'll be coming out on November 12. Armature is handling the port, and it'll run at 60FPS, but as a trade off it will be subnative res.

The Amazing Spiderman has also been formally announced. It's a port of the console game, and appears to be in contention for the worst looking release on the platform:

I remember when people thought that distinction would belong to Shinobido 2.

Oh, and Angry Birds Trilogy is coming to PSN next week. I dunno.

??? I don't remember much hate for Shinobido 2's graphics.  It's on par with all of Acquire's releases, regardless of platform- I don't think people expect stellar visuals from them.  It's a good game.

How do you even remember that?   :lol

It looks like a high-res PS2 game.  Pretty much what I expected from them.

Older games are built for OLED, who knew!?

Show me the receipts with FFX or something newer, Bork. That's when the reverse will happen.

Just like it did with the DS revision in terms of colors.

Wipeout is more washed out on the LCD in those comparisons than the OLED. It's apparent even off-camera. Why? Because it was built for the OLED's color-levels than not-at-the-time LCD.

Same shit is gonna happen when FFX HD releases, it'll be built for LCD to where it's vibrant as hell there but looks bad or darker or what-have-you-whatever-you-want-to-call-it on the OLED.

Of course, I'd love to be wrong and have "parity" between both in regards to color-modes, but that probably won't happen. We'll probably get a setting in the firmware like the PSP to where you have to set the LCD's "vibrant" mode on for games to take advantage of it.

It's an awesome game and the touch screen actually makes it easier to play on Vita- you can use it to check for hidden loot/touch runes or command your thief partner to open stuff much faster than using an analog stick.

Plus it's getting cross-play!

Crimson Gem Saga @ $7.49
Hexyz Force @ $4.99
Kenka Banchou: Badass Rumble @ $7.49

The new Vita model is out.  Time for GAF OVERHYPE!  Even DCharlie joins in!   :P

Quote from: hongcha;86219344
My black 2000 finally arrived today. I've played around with it for the past hour, here are some brief initial impressions.

First, it feels fantastic. The rubberised grip on the back of the unit makes holding it very comfortable, and the button placement is great. The 1000 feels clunky in comparison. The L/R triggers are noticeably improved, and the face buttons feel a bit more clicky. The dpad feels a tad bit looser than the 1000, overall they are extremely close but right now if I had to choose which dpad I like better I'd go with the 1000. Overall the 2000 is the clear winner in comfort, and this is a big deal for me as I don't enjoy playing uncomfortable handhelds (such as the Vita 1000 and OG 3DS) for extended periods of time.

The screen looks far better in person than in any pictures or video posted online, which is why I am not going to bother posting pictures here. The colours are more subdued compared to the 1000's OLED, but it is a sharp, vibrant, high quality LCD with no ghosting or other noticeable flaws. Great viewing angles too, and no perceptible input lag. Side by side, the main difference I notice between the 1000's screen and the 2000's screen is the 1000 is brighter, with colours that feel oversaturated with a bit too much contrast. The 2000, on the other hand, sometimes feels like the colours are a bit too subdued. Something in between the two screens would be ideal, but this is really just being nitpicky. They are both great screens in their own ways. In fact, I have found PSP games look better on the 2000's screen, perhaps because the OLED exposes more of the artifacts/problems with the original graphics?

One thing that really stood out in my comparison was the difference in speaker quality. The 2000 model is so improved in this regard, it blew me away. The speakers are placed better so your thumbs do not block them (a problem on the 1000), but that is not all: the volume is nearly doubled, and the clarity of sound has been improved tremendously. Richer bass, clearer high tones, etc. I always had to use headphones on my 1000 because the speakers were such garbage, but not anymore with my 2000.

The feel in the hands, the thinness, the light weight, the microUSB charging, the extra hour of battery life, and the vastly superior audio quality make the 2000 model the clearly superior one for me. The screen is still wonderful, it's just not OLED. It's on par with the ipad Mini screen, for example. If you can deal with that, you'll love this. If all you care about is an OLED screen, you'll want to stick with your 1000. That's pretty much all it comes down to in the end.

Quote from: DCharlie;86237578
The OLED is definitely a better screen than the 2000, but it's amazing how much better the 2000 looks than it does -out of the box- if you just drop the brightness down a notch or two.

Bought it because i want a light machine that i can just dump at work and download all the games i've already got to a second unit.

So now i have a White OLED and an all white 2000 for US, and a pair of black OLED. #Datvita? Dat Vita.

other minor downsides - my biggest grumble with Vita is actually the low volume output for headphones - i solved this with the OLED units by buying a pocket amp, ripping open a cradle and creating a horribly ghetto LOD and proceeding to TOUCH THE SKY whilst deafening myself. With the switch to the much more convenient B-type charge cable that avenue is gone - though, unless i'm crazy, the 2000 does seem a bit louder.

Quote from: CoachKevin;86243419
edit: If you have more things you want video of just let me know.

Played a few more hours last night before bed. Played some Hotline Miami, Uncharted, Lumines, Resident Evil 2, Spelunky, and EDF 2017. Since people are still asking here are some bullet points on the PS Vita PCH-2000:

  • Speakers are louder by about 25% (as shown in 4th video)
  • Headphone output is louder/more powerful by 25%
  • The screen looks much better in person than on a camera
  • Colors are still very vibrant (see video 4)
  • It fits well in old cases since it has the same width
  • Wifi seems better and FASTER (see video 4)
  • 64GB card isn't faster
  • The new cases for the Vita kind of suck. (Video 1 and 3)
  • Brightness is more than bright enough
  • I have no problem retiring my OLED
  • Overall it is a beautiful console with a lot of improvements. I will not be missing the OLED.
