Vita $160 at Radioshack (online only).

Doesn't include a memory card so still slightly expensive for the price, but worth it all the same.

At least early on you need to get every single coin that pops up.

I can't play that game for like a month because I cheated the timer by setting Vita's clock ahead to get coffee without waiting, but when I updated the firmware it reset it back to proper time.

How often does coffee refresh? 1 every 24 hours? Even Montezuma's BeJeweled wasnt this bad.

One cup every thirty minutes for a max of three cups until you use one of the three which sets off the timer again.

Injustice turned out well.  Everything intact, online play is solid, nothing is missing, etc.  The graphics are better than Mortal Kombat, with normal maps and lighting on the characters this time, but it still doesn't look as good as other fighters like SFxTK and DOA5+.  And like MK, it looks pretty bad in screenshots.

Some of the super moves increase the amount of character detail (it appears that the frame rate drops to 30 to allow this?) quite a bit.  It's pretty noticeable.

Superman up close during his super:

Superman at the end of his super move.  Note that Doomsday already has less detail in comparison:

Superman after the super move animation has completely finished, back to how he appears outside of intro/win poses and his super:

MK and this might be the worst-looking games from the screengrabs, yeah.   :lol

Scaled down to be closer to the Vita screen size:

But even then, the image still isn't as sharp as what you get on the OLED.  Everything is noticeably blurrier, like the characters' names.

My point is that the animation is pretty well done.  Plus the console versions also had some pretty hideous looking character models.  Nettherrealm really needs to work on that.  This is from the console version, for example:

Lack of cross-play already makes it dead on arrival though. Then again, cross-play didn't help DOA5. But that's mostly due Tecmo/Team Ninja cutting it off at the knees to push out DOA5U quickly instead of fixing the matchmaking for that.

Street Fighter x Tekken is the only cross-play title with some life, unless "Wipeout's" sporadic life counts as "life."

There should still be enough people playing.  Never had a problem finding matches in Mortal Kombat.  DOA5+ was the only game I pretty much gave up on online.

I hope Ultimate gets a portable version with fixed online play...or gets a PS4 port-up so if nothing else you can mess with it via remote play.

SFxTK still does it best.  Best portable fighter out there because of cross-play.  I really wish this was mandatory in Vita-PS3 and/or Vita-PS4 releases.  Glad Yatagarasu is gonna be Vita/PS4 cross-buy/play.

Vita TVs are locked for use with Japanese and Asian accounts only:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=714705
Quote
Initial signs are not good - it will only let me log in with my Japanese account. I'm now updating the firmware to 3.00, but I'm not optimistic this will change anything.

Edit: Nope. With both my NZ and US accounts I get 'This service is not available in your region'. It is useless to me.

Glad I saw this before P-A shipped my order.

Gotta protect against importers.  :lol

Really dunno why they want to do that, since there is people that want to buy it. Why would you limit your revenue stream when it's just pushing the storefront and titles to the system? I guess they're "testing" the titles compatibility like PSX/PSP titles on the system?

All the Vita fighting games run at 60fps.  The most impressive fighter visually is still UMvC3.  It may have missing background animation, but it's native res.

Tearaway getting a 9/10 from Edge, same score as Mario 3D World is pretty big deal.  As a Media Molecule fan it'll be nice to see their amazing creativity get its credit this time around since despite LittleBigPlanet games being fantastic creative experiences that brought something new to the console gaming world, most people just went "floaty controls; game sux" and didn't give it a second look.

Can't wait to play it!

It's getting a large amount of very high scores all-around.

You can put me in that Little Big Planet camp- I didn't like the way the game played and I'm still unsure about getting Tearaway because of it.  Friday is A Link Between Worlds, anyway.

At first I was like:  Gorgeous art design ruined by WHY DOES ANY GAME USE VITA'S BROKEN REAR TOUCHPAD I HATE THIS THING IT'S THE WORST INVENTION EVER IN A GAME SYSTEM.  WORSE THAN MOTION CONTROLS.

But then I got further in and was like:

Game is really impressive.  Enough that I'll put on my war face and suffer the rear touchpad.  Just incredibly creative game.  Media Molecule are amazing developers.

Phantasy Star Nova isn't going to do some of the traversal I'm seeing here. Same for Soul Sacrifice and God Eater. Most of these PSO clones are feet firmly planted on the ground. Freedom Wars seems to be subverting the genres tropes by having gun/sword equips and traversal gameplay.

It's probably the first thing since PSO that's interested me in that genre just from the trailer. If they take that Devil May Cry/Lost Planet whip/teether system and put it in combat...  :rejoice

Yeah, but you can download a demo and answer that for yourself instead of wasting bandwidth on a whole title and going "Yeah, not for me."  :lol Which is what I'm getting at. Download a small portion and see for yourself. If you think you'd like it, then waste a little more bandwidth getting the full thing.

It's like Monster Hunter, only without having to wander around looking for the monsters.  I.E., endless fights against monsters in smaller, more arena-like stages.
