Yeah, I've been playing Joe Danger too. It runs well, but there's a bunch of crashes if your WiFi signal is weak. It ate my save file, but thankfully that was only 20 minutes of playtime.

I'm searching, but every discussion on the package installer mentions it's still a DRM free trial installer. I don't believe Takao.

Found it:

Quote
From my understanding the game has to download the full game entirely. Meaning a demo that's essentially unlocked by one of those DL codes

What a monumental fuck up by Sony if true. :lol I guess they didn't expect people to find out a DRM free trial isn't actually fully locked.

Makes sense, though. Given they generally have you download the entire game to download a 100kb unlock file later.

Vita TV compatibility list for NA: https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5376

Soul Sacrifice, Shinobido 2, Ys Celceta, and a couple others were patched to work for the Japanese version.  who knows if they'll ever get patched for the English versions.

but here are a couple newly compatible games like Killzone and Borderlands 2  :-\

Am actually glad Killzone is on the list-- it's much better than the PS4 version.  :p

I hope more games pop on this list...would very much like to play the Neptunia games on it, plus Senran Kagura better be on there.   :punch

I want to know if Japanese games with Vita TV support will work on the Playstation TV.  In theory they should, yes?

They should since compatibility is handed out through a game patch rather than an OS one IIRC.

Was there ever a consensus on which vita was better? The older oled one or the 2000 lcd? Yes, I know oled is supposed to be nicer, but did the 2000 have anything that made it a worthwhile upgrade. Gamestop has a trade in promo right now where the Vita is $110 base value on then a $50 promo coupon on top of that. Seems maybe worthwhile and I haven't been using my vita that much. I do have Senran Kagura on pre-order and I do like the oled screen so...

I don't have a 2000, but I imagine the bigger start/select buttons and the non-propietary charger are worth the trade off of no oled. The charger for my 1000 is pretty fucked and I dread having to replace it.

Everything -except for the screen- about the 2000 is better than the 1000-- it's lighter, more ergonomic, has better buttons, and better battery life.  The LCD it uses is pretty good, but there are things about the 1000 OLED that are better.  Colors are more accurate on the LCD and the picture is a bit sharper, but I love how colors pop on the OLED and some games just look better on it.

I use both models; American account on a 2000 and Japanese account on a 1000.  It's getting to the point that I'm preferring the advantages that the 2000 has over the 1000 model and may end up replacing it with a 2000 too.

That said, if you don't play your Vita that much, I wouldn't bother paying more money to trade up.  Stick with the 1000.

Tested out the Vita TV.

-More Vita games were supported by the Vita TV than I thought.  All the games scaled pretty well, but the best-looking titles I tried were both Senran Kaguras, Muramasa Rebirth, Sonic Transformed, One Piece Kaizoku Musou 2, and Toukiden.   The picture quality is overall fantastic and some multiplatform titles looked extremely close to their PS3 counterparts.

-Could not figure out how to use a PS4 controller with the Vita TV and had to use a PS3 controller to test remote play.  The lack of a touch pad made it hard to get some stuff working.  I'm sure there's something very basic that I'm missing.

-Tried both my Japanese and American accounts.  Account switching is easier than on the Vita since the stupid introduction video does not play, so the process goes quicker.  The American PSTV store is not up yet.

-On my American account, the Japanese Vita TV information screen still displayed, but everything else was in English.  Am wondering if this may cause an issue with streaming apps and U.S.-specific media content.

-When I inserted a memory card, the Vita TV did not keep my folder settings, background images/themes, and like what happens when account switching on a Vita, some game icons disappeared and had to be "reloaded" by inserting the game cards.  Fortunately, however, when I put the memory card back into my Vita, everything was intact, so the Vita and Vita TV save these profiles separately.  This means if you have both, you'll just need to set everything up on the Vita TV one time only.

-Not sure about remote play yet.  I tried this in the bedroom and the wifi signal is not as strong there.  I do have a signal booster packed away and may set that up this weekend, to see if it improves things.  I was able to play Sengoku Musou 4 for a bit.  It looked decent, but was clearly lower resolution and that 30 FPS limit was much more noticeable on a larger screen.  I think on competent connections, remote play will really depend on the game.

-It's really nice having full-screen PSP games.  I may buy some more titles now, although Persona 3 Portable looked kind of ugly when enlarged that much.

The following games worked that I tried:

-Akiba's Trip
-One Piece Kaizoku Musou 2
-Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends CE
-Shin Gundam Musou (J)
-Sengoku Musou 4 (J)
-Deception IV
-Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus (J)
-Dekamori Senran Kagura (J)
-Dragon's Crown
-Chou Jigen Action Neptunia U (J)
-Bullet Girls (J)
-Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
-J-Stars Victory VS (J)
-Blazblue Chrono Phantasma
-Arcana Heart 3 Love Max!!!!! (J)
-Dead Or Alive 5 Plus
-Divekick
-Sonic Transformed
-Toukiden
-Muramasa Rebirth
-Ragnarok Odyssey Ace
-Magical Beat
-Persona 3 Portable (PSP)

Not supported:

-Killzone Mercenary (which means the update it's supposed to get for PSTV support is still not out yet :/)
-Unit 13
-Borderlands 2
-Hotline Miami
-Phantom Breaker Battle Grounds
-Street Fighter X Tekken
-Jet Set Radio
-Rayman Legends
-Ridge Racer
-Hyper Dimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1
-Hot Shots Golf World Invitational
-Virtua Tennis 4
-Hatsune Miku Project Diva f
-TxK
-Castlevania The Dracula X Chronicles (PSP)

Did not try:

-Uncharted Golden Abyss (does not work)
-Shinobido 2 (does not work, IIRC)
-Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (does not work, IIRC)
-Retro City Rampage (works, IIRC)
-Malicious Rebirth (works, IIRC)
-Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus (works, IIRC)
-Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus 2 (works, IIRC)
-Mortal Kombat (does not work, IIRC)
-Injustice (does not work, IIRC)
-Gravity Rush (does not work)
-ACIII Liberation (does not work, IIRC)
-Sly Cooper Thieves In Time (does not work, IIRC)
-Guacamelee (does not work, IIRC)
-Spelunky (?)
-Wipeout 2048 (?)
-Soul Sacrifice Delta (works)
-Final Fantasy X-2 HD (works)
-Rogue Legacy (?)
-Olli Olli (?)
-Lumines Electronic Symphony (?)
-Pix The Cat (?)

I need to check the compatibility lists!

They don't have to patch it out-- the Koei musou games actually get alternate controls schemes, made with the PS3 controller in mind, when played on the Vita TV.  Capcom could do the same for SFxTK, but they won't.  I mean, anyone who's going to want to play that on a TV already owns the console version anyway.

I think it's pretty stupid how so many games don't work, especially since you can simulate front and back touch by clicking the analog sticks.  That's not necessarily practical when in-game, but it would still be nice to have everything actually load up.

I'm sure if the Vita TV wasn't a total bomb more games would have had support.

yeah, some of the 'incompatibility' sounds annoying.  wipeout 2048 should work, but because it has touch screen menus, doesn't.  same with shinobido 2.  I wish there was an option that turned off the game limitation by simply acknowledging that the player might run into game ending spots.

Yeah, I really feel that should have been the way they went about it. Just have a full disclosure that some things may not work, but thems the breaks.

It's been awhile, but what did Gravity Rush use the touch for? Dodge roll I believe? Yes it would suck to not be able to dodge, but honestly the combat in that game is simple and I would be willing to deal with it just to play the game on Vita TV.

They really should have had everything run, just with a warning that not everything will make the smooth transition without a touch pad.

Hmm... weird. Still, I'd prefer them to patch it out of the title/icon selection. The icon/titles are small enough already that using touch is just stupid in general for trying to select them.

OK, so I must have gone insane last night, because both TxK and Jet Set Radio work.  Spelunky does too.

Killzone just got patched and is now compatible.  They added a control scheme made for PS3/PS4 controllers, so the shoulder buttons function normally and you can click the analog stick to run.  The game looks really, really good blown up to 720P.  Pretty much like PS3.

Have now tested all my Vita games, with the exception of Ragnarok Odyssey (have it digitally but it's been deleted since I have Ace) and Resistance (also deleted...does anyone even care anyway?)

Sly Cooper also got a patch and now works.  Like Killzone and the Koei musou games, you get new control schemes that take full advantage of the PS3/PS4 controller, so it's just like playing the PS3 version.

Despite that tweet posted earlier from James Mielke, Lumines currently does not work.  Was also surprised to find that Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 did not work.  That's the only Koei game I tried that did not.  Persona 4 looks kind of ugly blown-up.  I guess it's expected since it's a PS2 game.  And I tried one PS1 game, Dino Crisis 2.  Looked hideous, LOL.

Here is my updated list:

Supported:

-Killzone Mercenary
-Sly Cooper Thieves In Time
-Akiba's Trip
-One Piece Kaizoku Musou 2
-Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends CE
-Shin Gundam Musou (J)
-Sengoku Musou 4 (J)
-Deception IV
-Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus (J)
-Dekamori Senran Kagura (J)
-Dragon's Crown
-Chou Jigen Action Neptunia U (J)
-Bullet Girls (J)
-Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
-J-Stars Victory VS (J)
-Blazblue Chrono Phantasma
-Arcana Heart 3 Love Max!!!!! (J)
-Dead Or Alive 5 Plus
-Divekick
-Sonic Transformed
-Toukiden
