From Prole's hands down to mine, to the video card graveyard  :'(

Not too worried about it, since it was just the living room PC and I have the gaming PC I built in my "office," but can anyone suggest a really cheap basic card for watching HD movies, etc?  The base PC is pretty old, AMD 64x2 3800+ processor, 3GB ram.  I'm not looking to game on it or anything (although I did do some gaming every now and then on the 8800, nothing more demanding than L4D), but I will miss watching movies and dicking around on the internet.

that's the card i use in my gaming pc, it's probably a little too much card for that shitty processor, hahaha

how about something in the $75 range (give or take)?

I bought a RADEON HD 6770 today. It was like $130. I like it a lot. I upgraded from an old nVidia 8800 GT.

Does the onboard video not handle HD well? My last PC had something like a 3200+ and onboard video and it played everything fine except for 1080p Blu-Ray rips.

Ah, that sucks. I dunno, I'd probably check Craigslist for a cheap 8800 or something. I'm not really super up to date with AMD's cards but the ones you're posting seem a little overkill to me if you're essentially just using it for watching videos.
