You'd be surprised at the demographics judging by the badge pickup lines.  Very, very few stereotypical overweight white kids.  LOTS and I mean loooooots of skinny hot guys and girls.  I saw guys there who you'd think were the harvard lacross dudes from Social Network and you're like "wtf are these people doing at an anime con".  People of all races, ages were there.  Some guy and his wife in their 60s/70s were in line and had a turbotax shirt on, I don't know if that was supposed to be ironic.

The demographic has really shifted toward the mainstream and it's a con for everyone now, not just the comic book dude from the simpsons.

Not going to happen.  I'm at a con, solo, that's pretty weird on its own.  I'm just going to have a fuckton of fun and enjoy my vacation weekend.  After I got my badge I went to the bar and had some food and good beer.  The walked the streets and took in the nice scenery surrounding me.  Now I'm going to read some more game of thrones and then crash so I can check out this ORIGINAL PANTRY BREAKFAST place down the street and get some breakfast before opening ceremonies.  Then the day of crazy fun begins.

Sounds pretty different to my experience at Anime Boston ~7 years ago. But maybe it was the fact fricking everyone was cosplaying so I couldn't see past that to their relative attractiveness.

Well it was a lot more nerdy 7 years ago for sure.  I just think that it's become a lot more mainstream over time and now all kinds of people watch naruto or whatever is on cable tv these days.

Bandai Ent. said a few weeks ago they were doing something big for Gundam at AX. Could be for Gundam AGE, or it could just be about the 00 Movie release or Turn A and the 0079 TV series boxsets.

I'd love for it to be more Gundam on Blu-ray, but we all know that's not gonna happen.

Got my first "fucking nerds!" scream from a truck driving by.  Now I feel like I'm fitting in with the rest here, yay!

Got a ticket to see Nirgilis in concert at 7pm in Club Nokia.  I think they're electronica; I've only heard one song from them about 5 years ago but it was pretty good stuff.  I hope they sell earplugs at the club because I didn't bring any and I'm too old for concerts without plugs.  My ears are going to dieeeee otherwise.

I went to the Miyuki Sawashiro panel.  Some guy asked her to shout SPINNING DRILL SMASH since she plays Cammy in SF4 and she did.  


And that picture is out of date since it's before I had my full costume and shaved.  This is what I'm rolling around in these days.  It's not great, especially because I've never worn a wig before and have no fucking idea how to keep it shaped, but the bar at AX can be very low so I think I fit in.



Note, picture is flipped because of mirror stuff.

I'm going to go meet one of my heroes, the president/writer/director of N1 SRPGs and hopefully get him to sign my Phantom Kingdom LE so I can tell him to bring back vehicles and building tossing to his srpgs.

They sang the ED to Deadman Wonderland last season, it should be pretty awesome to hear them perform that in concert. And of course, Eureka Seven.

I think after the concert I'm going to check out the dance but last time I went to the dance at AX 5 years ago, every girl I asked to dance who was standing alone in some corner was like "umm...I'm with those Japanese guys over there".  So I don't really expect much out of it.  Then going to hit up the OPEN MIC KARAOKE NIGHT, drink some shots and sing like crazy until I get too tired and go back and crash
