It's $10 on amazon with automatic free shipping. Is it a good game or a waste of time?

It's not bad. Combat is better than Bioshock 1, but that wasn't the strength of that game, and it lacks a lot of what made Bioshock 1 great. Worst part is how tedious it can be. They made the whole little sister/big daddy stuff duller.

I heard minerva's den is great (dlc add-on, separate story/campaign) and I'm downloading that now.

Samey might not be too bad since I haven't played the last one at all since it was new. But is it good? I don't really care if it's $10 or $20 but if it's a shit game I will want to quit halfway through then I don't even want it around.

It's not really a shitty game, but I felt it was the mirror of Bioshock... what was cool in Bioshock 1 sucks here, vice versa

The gameplay is similar to the first one with a few tweaks. The issue is that it's mostly a rehash of the original and the universe isn't as fresh or new this go around. It's an average game. I think it's worth playing but some people have a thing with "average" games.

Gameplay is better than bioshock 1

Story is like a straight to DVD sequel to bioshock 1

Minerva's Den is great

so yeah it's pretty cool

Very good atmospheric game. Not as good as the first game, but the last hour is much better and the conclusion more satisfying. Plus I hear Minerva's Den is awesome.

Here's the thing, if you really enjoyed the atmosphere of Bioshock, you'll enjoy Bioshock 2.

It doesn't suck, people are just being babies in this thread. Yes, Tennabaum is a lame antagonist and certainly no Ryan. But the mini-stories of each location were good.

The gameplay isn't even better than Bio1. It has some improvements but then the repetition of guard the sister gets old.

Demi nailed it. This has been discussed so much that I won't bother to fully reiterate, but it probably wouldn't be such a big deal if the stuff they decided to fix and focus on actually made the game better -- the combat is better, sure, but it's a polished turd, and you end up doing it to tedium. The level design, on the whole, is MUCH worse. And, as mentioned, all the intrigue of Rapture is gone -- which might have been a foregone conclusion and hence the shift in focus to begin with, but if those levels are all they could come up with, they could have never replicated the atmospheric draw of Bioshock anyway.

I hold a lot more ire for the game than it's probably worth, but I still felt like it was an aboslute waste of time. Wait for Infinite.

I didn't hate it but the level design sucks, there's too much of "see that point 5 feet over there? That's where you need to go but we're making you go 15 miles in the opposite direction first". There is one level that's different from everything else which is fun but it's way too short and just magnifies how bad the other levels are.

The last few levels where it turns into a corridor shooter are pretty weak too.

For the record, the original Bioshock has already dated to the point of unplayability. Tried going back to it for the brass balls cheev but the game plays like such ass. Unforgivable game

i tried the original bioshock just the other month and they've added these ADDED subtitles where everything has a caption. look at an object? have a caption of what that shit is! ruins the game for me.

I always thought the original was a bit overrated. Its very dependent on the world and the twist. As an actual game game it wasn't a very good shooter.

No, it comes pre-installed with the subtitles. If you have subtitles on, you're going to have that bullshit. If you turn subs off, you won't, but that means no subtitles.
