He is what he is. No training camp is going to magically transform him into a great passer or a correct decision maker. He's a dude who can scramble but can't throw for shit. There are a lot of those dudes in college.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
If he was black I think more people would be saying this.

If he was black he wouldn't be in this position, ie starting in the NFL. He would have been benched after his first shitty performance.

Vince Young who?

VY is an NFL QB, I don't think Tebow is right now. IIRC Young had a shit ton of taints in his second season but his completion rate is in the high 50s, whereas Tebow's is in the high 40s.

and Vince Young won more meaningful football games!

In some ways we're arguing over a turd and shit sandwich, but I maintain Young was a lot better than Tebow, and actually capable of running an NFL offense whereas Tebow can't

Name the QB

rookie season: 66.7 rating
sophomore season: 71.1 rating

rookie season: 82.1 rating
sophomore season: 77.9 rating

Really, I'm just arguing against this hyperbole:

Quote
If he was black he wouldn't be in this position, ie starting in the NFL. He would have been benched after his first shitty performance.

Young wasn't benched until he was injured.

But since it's obviously hyperbole, whatever.

Cowboy fans should do this just for the girlfriends.

Sanchez is a mediocre quarterback; Romo is a good quarterback with Brett Favre disease.

Quote
Jerry Jones, the NFL's only owner/general manager, won't even consider changing the structure of the Dallas Cowboys' front office, despite the fact that disappointing seasons have been the norm since the franchise's mid-1990s dynasty died.

"The facts are that I've spent 22 years doing this exactly the same way," Jones said Tuesday on KRLD-FM. "I've made a lot of changes from year to year as time goes along, but frankly, I know that when we do not have the kind of success, when we don't have expectations lived up to, the one that should get the most heat is the one that ultimately makes the decisions, period, with the Dallas Cowboys. And that's me."

Jones dismissed the idea of hiring a general manager from outside the organization, such as Bill Polian after the Indianapolis Colts fired the architect of their Super Bowl team. Jones emphasized that he uses information from many different sources to make football decisions.

In Jones' mind, adding a general manager to the payroll would clutter the decision-making process, not improve it.

"The thing you've got to realize is that when you have an owner that is full-time as the owner, then you create a situation where you have as much turnover at GM as you do at the coaching level," Jones said. "And I think that just deters from the mix."

The Cowboys have had six coaches, one general manager and one playoff win in the last 15 seasons.

The Cowboys just completed an 8-8 season in which they beat only one team that finished .500 or better. But Jones believes his team was talented enough to make a playoff run, and he's pleased with the coaching.

"More often than not, when you're in the kind of shape we are statistically, you're doing better in the playoffs," Jones said.

RG3 definitely has a legit NFL arm and freak speed. He also had a consistently good college career; he had a great junior year and a damn good sophomore year. Compared to Cam Newton having one year on record. But Newton turned into perhaps a once in a lifetime player and is the definition of an outlier.

Newton is also 3 inches taller than RG3 and played (and dominated) a superior conference; Luck is 2 inches taller than RG3. I think RG3 can be a solid to good QB with the right team, but he's going to be a project early imo. Luck going to the Colts could get them into the playoffs or close, assuming Manning can't start or is traded. I think Hill's idea of sitting RG3 and having him learn from Manning makes sense...but why draft a project over a sure thing, especially at QB in the NFL?

Disclaimer: I don't think Luck is the best thing ever, I'm not even sure he has more potential than Newton. But dude is legit and will only get better

I don't see how a quarterback apprenticeship of holding a clipboard for multiple years is more beneficial than a bunch of actual playing time in the NFL (especially for an expensive early first-round pick). Citing Rodgers-Favre, as Hill does, is just post hoc nonsense. What did Rodgers learn from Favre, who was not exactly the smartest quarterback in NFL history, that was worth three years of his career? And what was the benefit to the team?

Manning didn't need a quarterback apprenticeship and his replacement doesn't need one either.

Broncos have a chance against the Steelers...they're banged up to shit. The problem is that Tebow could get destroyed by the Steeler defense. Still I think this could be a close game that goes down to the wire, giving Tebow a chance to win the game

RIP Lions  :-\

I'm not jumping ship, but I just don't see us winning. If the GB backups could torch us, lord knows what Breesus will do.

Next season our RBs will be healthy, although I think Jahvid Best will be out of the league in the next couple years. This many concussions is a bad sign and at some point he has to think about his future/health. Outside of that I hope we upgrade the secondary in the draft or FA, plus I'd love to see the o-line addressed.

Damned espn has gotten me nervous by hyping the game all week. Have faith, but we got run on by the Seahawks last year. Outside tho! Think they got this. Just hope Brees isn't stomped on or anything. Lions are on the up tho. If they can fill in a few gaps (and stafford can stay healthy), they're gonna be good for a while.

Dream scenario:
Saints beat lions and travel to beat niners.
Someone beats green bay in lambeau for us :p
Home conf championship game.
Super bowl against dark lord Brady. Or tebow lolol

I'm a practical fan. Our run defense looks bad and while we have pressured Breesus a bit, he's still hitting his targets. Our offense looks great but I'm getting scared of Shaun Rogers

Yeah, but I think if your offense wasn't so one dimensional and could keep you on the field longer you'd be most of the way there.  Keep in mind that even if you have awesome dudes in the secondary it's not like they're really allowed to do shit these days.

Agreed, some semblance of a run game would definitely help and keep defenses honest. I think we need help on the o-line for that, which hopefully we address in the draft. I'm bummed we'll most likely spend another high draft pick on an RB though, with LeShoure recovering from the torn ACL and Jahvid Best being 1-2 concussions from being out the league.  :-\

But there's no excuse for our shitty secondary. The LB core has been greatly improved but I'd also love to see more focus ther
