I hate it when someone uses the meaningless foo bar in a programming example. It doesn't mean anything, it makes your example less usefull.

The point is to not get caught up in meaningless detail.  If you don't get a foo bar example it probably means you're missing something more fundamental with the example already assumes you to know.
