sales on this sure showed reggie what-for

less than 7k first week in the uk

AHUAHUAHUAHUA

ps I don't like Reggie for many reasons (condescending pr mouthpiece for one), but NoA's policies make SENSE regarding localizations.  Our only hope is that the WiiU estore will be capable of cost-effectively releasing some of their xenoblade type stuff.

well after what seems like it was forever i think i'm done with most of the quest pre-earth sea or whatever it's called

all that questing brought frontier colony to a 3 star rating and colony 9 to a 4-star rating! after bringing frontier colony to 3 star, one of the nopon had a very interessing item for trade!

party is level 44,i think i'm levelled well enough for the next zone and the zone after :-[

cleared the tomb dungeon so i guess prison island is next... is that when most of the quest stop being avaiable? all of the quest in this new place have a clock too so i'm really worried that they are going to time-out :-X

i also got colony 6 to level 2,the reward you get for helping the colony are way much better compared to all the other shit the game throws at you

I haven't bothered with quests. Waste of time... Game isn't even that hard without doing them.

I'm sooo close to the end of the game.  Like, within the next day I'll be done. Game is absolutely amazing. They throw on a ton of story at the end too. Lots of "woah" - "wat" - "wtf"

How long does it take to beat the game if I do minimal sidequests?  I'm like 5 hours in and I'm

Yeah, you still have about 10 hours to go storywise.  Then if you want to do the bonus dungeons and take out all the uniques you'll add some hours getting from lvl.80-97 or so.

Game is basically 60 hours of plot, 60 hours of sidequests.

Do you have to go back to the beginning city every time you want to make new gems and such? And I suppose that's where they sell items as well? I'm 7 hrs in, level 22 and I've never gone back once, so I still only have the 3 gems I got at the beginning. That's a pretty big inconvenience.

Also, dolphin build 7714 runs the game perfectly. Zero issues so far.

Select Maps (leftmost icon on menu) choose Colony 9 - Gem Man, and you warp there instantly. You'll have heaps of crap to craft into gems. I don't like the gem crafting either, long and tedious

Im 7 hrs in, Lvl 19 and made a shit load of gems -- all of them tier 1, tho  :'(

I did most of the side quests in Colony 9 and I thought I was really, really rich but spending it on those Art books pretty much drains all my funds. There's no other way of boosting your Art's skill cap, right?

Also this game is pretty badass.  Best RPG in a decade.  I like it more than The Witcher 2.   :-X

It's up there for sure. The battle system/combat in Xenoblade actually makes sense and isn't a sub-par action-game clone.

I'm not sure, never found an Advanced book I didnt already buy.

Advanced books are like... near the end of the game. You are better off just buying the books. You get tons of equipment from drops from enemies, so wasting your money on equipment isn't worth it.

Yeah. Just equip the main characters you use. Buy only the books for skills you use primarily. The rest will just fall into place. Also accept every quest you come across. Since they are Kill X and Collect Y, that's pretty much free money and XP.

This game isn't difficult, just go at your own pace, you dont have to dedicate to questing.

I didnt make a single one...

gemming dunban with 2-3 agility up IV gems make the game even more piss easy and all it takes are some random trip to the closest wind crystal source

you guys shouldn't bother with gem making until you got 2 character to their maximum level of friendship at which point getting better gems becomes much much easier

Quote
"agh! my moolah"

i literaly don't know what to do with my money to the point i'm happy art manuals and that money wasting sidequest exist because otherwise i would have nothing to buy,i wouldn't bother with the quest so much if they didn't have that thing with the town rating... named NPC start to trade a lot of interessing items when you get a town to level 3 so i can only wonder all the awesome stuff they stop hoarding when you max it up

it's a good thing that the shop in colony 6 stocked up on good heavy armor, because that was pretty much the last time i bought something from a shop that wasn't an art manual

Uh, that takes even longer, I was getting tier 2 gems at the beginning because y'know, I was playing the (crappy) minigame properly. With Shulk - Reyn combo you want to tap A on a hot flame so Shulk shoots faster and because Reyn is GREAT on hot flame you get better gems, then you can do stuff like combining crystals to make near 100% cylinders so you can combine two and easily break from lvl 1 resources to lvl 2 gems. Anyway, pick you to defend one of the only crappy aspects of the game :lol

you want to tap A on a hot flame so shulk shoots faster?

pressing A just skip all the animation, the result is totaly random, the fact that reyn is great on hot flame just means that reyn get more hot flames than other character, and with high affinity you don't really need to bother with cylinders at all, just mash some crystal with high properties and PRESTO! high level gems

Quote
pick you to defend one of the only crappy aspects of the game

making gems is fun and usefull and takes 30 seconds top, watching shulk swim for several minute in a lake so he can find enemies that are 30 level highers than him is not

well you get some control with the two character you pick, the first character you pick comes with a special skill... shulk has better chance to get in fever mode which gives you several raises in a row, reyn gets more point when hitting hot....

for example if you wanted to make a lot of cylinders you would pick sharla as the first character since she gets a "cylinder bonus" and another character that's good at gentle flame (dunban i think?)

but really it's just a matter of finding a few crystals with high properties (i have seen as high as 90%) and just mash the two of them to get all the cool stat raising IV gems

Gems are great.  Especially the level IV/V ones.  The crafting system is kind of tedious, but it's worth crafting most of the time.

the end area, walking through the planets, getting closer to earth piece by piece?  I thought that was really awesome.  Knew Takahashi would fit his XG/XB sci-fi in there before all was said and done.  Really liked how the game, like Xenogears, tells the story of like billions of years; from the birth of a universe until the end of it's originating god.  Feels very complete; don't see any way to do a sequel.

Yeah.  He wrote XG with his wife.  He wrote XS Ep1 and a general outline of the rest of the XS story with his wife (Ep2 didn't follow his outline at all since Namco did it without him, Ep3 tried to merge the two), and he wrote XB by himself while his wife wrote Soma Bringer by herself.

He also wrote the XS spinoff The Pied Piper for Japanese cellphones only.  It was short but kind of cool.

It probably takes him about 3-5 years to come up with a story because he really fleshes his worlds out with tons and tons of details.  The worldview books for XG/XSep1/XB are all great.

Takahashi was one of the lead graphic designers for a bunch of Square SNES games including FF4-6 and Chrono Trigger, he worked on graphics at Falcom before that. Xenogears was his first project as a director and scenario writer.

uh... this feel pretty miraculous, the enemy in sword valley actualy match my strenght and for the first time in god only know how long for once i'm not extremely over-leveled,i even had a few problematic fight with named mobs,it was fun for once!

is this close to where timed quest get cut off? what happens exactly? do i lose access to city like alcamoth and the like?

well i reached the mechonis field, the plot of this game is sooooooooo incredibly dull that i don't know what bebpo is thinking, when the hero start spouting stuff like "I'LL PROTECT MY FRIEND" you officialy enter boring clichè territory

party is level 60,haven't done quests for quite a while,it's nice that the mob here bothers to attack me and actualy give some nice reward (i almost learned every skill tree!) but it's just making me waste more time in this incredibly dull dungeon
