Anybody ever own one? I just noticed their 17" model has HDMI in which is great for me as I could hook up a console to it, anywhere.

Also I'd like to know if the upgrade from 1600x900 screen to 1920 x 1080 is worth it at this screen size. It costs like 85 euro.

Specs that I could get:

Sager less flashy laptops arent available here in Europe.

yeah, plus the 1600x900 screens are usually poorer-quality panels

I want a new laptop for work-from-home purposes. Basically it should have a huge monitor and a great keyboard, but otherwise be lightweight (I'll be moving it around a fair bit, which kinda rules out netbook + separate monitor I think), and needn't be very powerful. I have in mind something like a 17" Mac Book Air. Does anything like that exist?

thanks to this cool-ass mail forwarding site i'm now using, i can even buy the budget stuff from the US! So recommend away, laptop gods.

Already have a gaming PC, don't need all that power in a laptop. Just want some portability, but with a device I can actually work on all day on and not go crazy.

Yeah, I saw plenty of stuff at trade shows etc....but where are they? I want the Samsung 9, basically.

There was a ROG I wanted, great specs, but it was sold out.

Right now I'm thinking I should get my driving license actually instead of spending 1/2 grand on a toy again. Although I really want one

How's the battery life on those things nowadays? The Alienware laptop I had back in 2004 had shit-tastic battery life. 45 minutes on the low-power setting, max.

I think now with Optimus etc. Alienware stuff gets a few hours in unplugged.

I think it probably depends on what youre doing with it. Manufacturer battery estimates are always hilariously generous.

I'm still kind of stunned at the iPad's battery life- its a big battery though right? Just always so crazy how long I can use a mobile device without recharging.

Yeah, it's pretty good. I often hook mine up to my TV and watch 720P/1080P video...can easily get 4-5 hours out of it on the high performance setting.

Gaming notebooks are pretty nice nowadays but I still prefer a loaded desktop. More bang for the buck and better reliability. Also, for the kinds of games that need a lot of computing power, I rarely have the time to play them outside of the home.

Definitely; after I got a desktop replacement laptop, I found that I didn't bring it around as much as I thought I would (due to the size/weight and MASSIVE BRICK AC adapter), and wished that I had gone with something smaller instead.
