well, that's widely known, dcharlie. he originally wanted luke to be an alien. george had crazy ideas about the series, many of which were altered by others that kept him in check, whether it be the studio or directors or other writers.

By Vader saying "no" it takes away any emotional impact. Originally it was between loyalty and love, and Vader chose love but not easily. You could tell he was conflicted without words or without seeing his face. It's a powerful scene, and that's why it's my favorite scene in the trilogy (along with the fight that occurs before it).

With the inclusion of "no" it transforms the scene from an internal conflict to something that feels like it's spur of the moment, like he didn't think about it, which is the total opposite of Vader's character.

I'm not going to dl it, I'm going to get the dvd versions of the theatrical cuts. They're OoP so I gotta act fast.

I don't understand why Lucas would do this even. Editing in the CG monsters and stuff I get - that might be shit he wanted to put in, but this? If he wanted Vader to be a pissy bitch, why didn't he just have him be a pissy bitch from the first release? Why didn't he do it in the 90s remaster? Did his kid recently watch the film and not get what the fuck was going on so now Lucas has to make sure his mentally deficient offspring doesn't feel confused?

Everyone knows the reception to RotS' "nooooooooo" scene. It was awful and has been openly mocked since that movie's release.

I have the original 90s "remastered" VHS, and the special edition on VHS (cause I was thirteen and didn't know any better) but he hasn't gotten a cent from me since.

Didn't get the DVDs and won't be getting the blu rays because of all his fuckery. And I definitely would have bought both otherwise, cause I was a huge star wars geek.

Incorrect. Lucas just adds dialogue and stuff but the editing and storytelling stays intact. The Warriors Director Cut ruins the editing and pacing of the film.
