Or the same game... just with better graphics and not piratable.

What a tough choice... LOL

Was there any gameplay shown? I only found the trailer... http://nintendoeverything.com/73054/

Sounds less of an MMO and more of an online cooperative game like MH.

Out of everything on that list, I'm mostly upset about a Vita port of MHP3rd HD. The PSP game is already on PSN, and the PS3 HD game isn't getting a positive word of mouth, so why bother with a Vita port?

Sounds like Sony,  yet again, got the short end of the stick.

On one hand I finally get a cool 3d DQ world to explore again after DQVIII so many years ago

OTOH it'll be crappy non-story party members and probably half-assed MMO-ish story like DQIX again.  Bleh.

Will play, but I don't like the direction Horii is taking DQ with IX and X.  DQ does not need to be some MMO shindig; DQ is good as a classic SP turn-based rpg!

It seems like the future of rpg's to atleast have one edition that is an mmo.  Ultima/FF/DQ All are going to have more MMO games it seems.

Time to pick up shooters, imo. You can even grind in them if you want, so you'll feel right at home! There's only one difference:

I've never been attached to this franchise, but DQX seems like some squeenix execs imperative as opposed to a ... good idea. An mmo is a huge investment/risk, a huge prolonged commitment afterwards, and the genre requirements of online persistence and subscription fees I would think is at some odds with the wider audience of the franchise.  Hearing about a WiiU version makes more sense in some ways,  I have more faith that its online capabilities will be better, but will it need to be reigned back to maintain parity with the og wii users?

I kinda had DQX pegged all along as a NSMBWii type sequel, where you take an accessible franchise and make an excellent polished rendition with a modern sheen.  Dragon Quest sure did throw a curveball this gen.

It's an MMO that has to run on a system without a hard drive.  I wouldn't expect much.

Apparently it will use USB storage.  I think it looks like it does because it IS a wii game that has to show many many characters on screen at once.

The way the class system was implemented, the classes to choose from, the art (don't want no wide eyed winged animu shit). Though Valkyria had a lot of aspects that was used in Shining III (like the buddy system). The Valkyrie engine and the Shining scenario seem like a marriage made in heaven.

Shining could be cool.  Depends entirely on the art style there going to go with.  If it's crappy animu like the last bunch it'll be lame even if it plays well.  If they try something DIFFERENT that's more like old school SF it could be awesome.

Hm... well, I'll have to replay SF1 & 2, but they seemed like typical SRPG, in the vein of Fire Emblem, to me. I've never played 3, so you have the advantage there.

Fire Emblem is pretty much a modern Shining Force. What I would like to see is some sort of world map setup like II though but if they're using the Valkyria engine I'm guessing it'll be mission based.

Its amazing how much, visually, that shits on DQX. MMO vs. Single Player I guess but I can see a MMO on PS3/360 looking that good. Hilariously I think DQX on WiiU is gonna be hamstrung (as far as capabilities and visuals) due to being focused on the Wii and ported over to the WiiU.

One person even Bububu'ed about DQX being internally developed by callling Level 5 "just code monkeys"

i was never able to find an opponent using the random opponent option and when playing with other people trough friend codes,it started lagging like crazy if it had more than 2 players and sometimes with only 2

and you can't communicate with other people, only thing you can do is sent short message's by taunting and only if you are in a friend code match

Eh, imo they just have to get it to 1080p and put some decent lighting and it would look better than that.  The low poly models dont look that different from the wii game.

So, I come home from the best weekend of my life... to this HORRIBLE news. I feel worse by this than when I broke up with my g/f of almost 2 years. This is fucking horrible, I hate hate hate MMOs... DQ9 wasn't that great (probably the worst game in the series since 2), didn't most people in Japan hate the MMO-leanings of 9? Why would S-E even do this and alienate the fanbase even more??? This is fucking distinguished mentally-challenged, I was hoping for something similar to 8, with actual character development and shit... just wanted a classic turn-based RPG on a console, but instead I get a game in my least favorite genre ever (barring sports sims or racing sims)

I thought the Inazuma games were well regarded rpgs.  Hell, they sell well enough.

Its wierd, I generally don't care about rpgs but I could see myself hypothetically buying something like a traditional 2d console dq type game if only out of curiosity for the 'prestige' of the franchise.  MMO doesn't appeal to my sensibilities.

I should check if Dragon Warrior is on the virtual console.

What makes the gorgeousness of that Ni no Kuni trailer hurt most is how mediocre the game is going to be.  Judging by the DS game and every other RPG Level 5 has made on their own, anyway.

And BlueTsunami, with regards to Level 5's involvement with the DQ games, they *were* just code monkeys.  They contributed a couple things (like the alchemy pot) to the game design, but they mostly just did the actual code work.

I'd much rather a mediocre offline turn-based RPG than the MMO pay-to-play crap DQX is going to be.
^_^
