R1 was just Half-life 2 mixed with COD. How's that not generic? Keep in mind this is coming from a huge Sony fan (as proven by Oscar).
What a bunch of crap. Although I personally liked the term "COD with aliens" since that's probably a pretty kick ass formula, it didn't feel a lot like either COD or HL2. Closer to something like Quake, but with a style of its own. Resistance was
neat. Flawed, not great, but neat. And the MP kicked all sorts of ass. Very atypical of a console game, too. Felt more like UT than Halo, that's for sure.
Funny that a game that gets regularly ripped on as being generic stands out as sort of unique, and certainly in terms of feature set (judging by console shooter standards at least).
As for Resistance 2... felt like they decided to listen to the critics and made a game for those critics. Not that I finished it, I felt that I'd rather just play Halo or something. Now there's a game you could call "this mixed with that."
