I thought The Darkness was sweet. One of the first FPS I played on PS3 after Resistance so I still had dem rose tinted glasses on. Don't have it anymore so I can't go back and see if I still like it. Apart from that they haven't done anything since Butcher Bay except Assault on Dark Athena which I haven't played.

I think their games are good, but I don't hold them in especially high regard or anything. They seem like they're a pretty troubled studio, developed their own engine with high aspirations (read this earlier someone posted in the gaf thread http://www.1up.com/features/starbreeze-secret-history) only to make it big with a licensed game and that's the way they've been able to stay afloat since.

From the pictures it looks cool.  Ignoring the Syndicate connection, it sounds like a cyberpunk shooter with light RPG and tactical elements.

I think I played every starbreeze game and they're mostly good.  Enclave was good, Riddick was great, The Darkness was so-so, Riddick again was great, 2nd part of Riddick again was bad.  I don't know if they made anything else.

Yeah it kinda does. Still would've liked to see something more akin to the Syndicate of old. This whole thing just seems like such a distinguished mentally-challenged move by EA

1) There's a glut of quality FPS and even unique ones like Deus Ex and Bulletstorm don't do well. Seems you need CoD or Battlefield in your title to be a successful FPS these days.

2) Why the Syndicate IP? It hasn't been used for years and all a FPS reboot of the franchise is going to do is piss off old fans. Might as well have used a new IP

At first I saw the screens and thought, hey this looks sweet! Then as I thought about it more I got more and more sad, Syndicate was my favourite game as a kid and this is really kinda raping the franchise. And it's not like there aren't popular games in more analogous genres, like DoTA and it's clones. Imagine something like that but not some ghey magics in the forest, but with UZI's and Cybernetic abilities and shit in futuristic cityscapes. That would be fucking interesting. As it stands this is just another good looking FPS. Obviously this project has been going on for years and being Starbreeze it was always going to be FPS, and I'll most likely buy it still doesn't make me feel any better about it

They aren't yet, but GoG is currently going through the EA catalog so they will eventually.

It's basicly trying to make another FPS seem legit and stand out. I'm pretty sure these games werent X-Com or Syndicate to begin with, but after the FPS idea was pitched they looked which old IP they could slap onto it.

I like the look of the world, a bit of cyberpunk with some clean, Apple-esque futurism, it all appeal to me on a very basic level. Gameplay looks interesting too, it has a fluidity and variety that gives it a cinematic feel [assuming all that in the trailer is realtime gameplay and not just a "target render"] that puts a lot of modern games to shame. All complaining about old brands being revived aside, I want to play games that are good and if this is a good game I'm not going to ignore just to "spite" EA.

I'm very much looking forward to this game though. Looks just like what I'd want from a Syndicate FPS. Being that this is coming out so close from Deus Ex HR I wonder if it will try and difference it's self from each other. Seeing as both games have a almost identical levels set on what looks like a large floating city.

One thing I would have changed in the trailer though that is bothering me. Instead of using the Tag line: "Business is War" it should have gone "Business is Booming"

I watched the new trailer on Gametrailers. I'm glad they're focusing on the gunplay. The ability to overload your chip and see the world how your augmented chip is viewing it is pretty cool. I'm looking forward to this one now.
