Game's out in a couple hours, you can preload.  Picked it up on preorder from www.getgamesgo.com yesterday for $24 (they haven't changed the price yet as of this posting, regular price is $30, still $10 cheaper than Steam, key works fine).  Anyone* picking this up?  I am gonna try to play some tonight, hit me up on Steam.  You can hear me go all Tourette's when I get killed for the 500th time.

I'll be on, that is if I'm able to pry myself away from the dev version of CoJ: The Cartel. :drool

I left it downloading while I went to eat, came back thinking it would be finished, instead Steam decided to crash while I was gone, 17% complete. :*(

the thread title is accurate.

in a 20 minute game i didn't see a single enemy

but i died 10 times

edit: i tried single player but couldnt get by the tutorial. i couldn't hit the sniper target at the farthest distance. no matter what distance i dialed in it never hit.

This is one of those games I love the idea of but would put my fist through my screen within an hour. Better off I stay away.

so, i finally get online with this game after practicing a bit in sp and getting familiar with the controls

i figured hey, it's a tactical, unforgiving fps, should be a better crowd than the usual xbl/psn fps bunch of slobbering mongoloids

nope, within five minutes i heard some shithead say "you feggits suck"

so, off goes the voice chat!

was he on the German team? he could have been role playing

also, I saw this on gaf:  Heroes and Generals

another semi-realistic Euro WW2 multiplayer shooter!
...
I want a new single player WW2 shooter with this type of atmosphere  :'(

i think i'm just kind of over multiplayer games altogether - i don't have the time anymore to get good enough at them to the point where i'm actual having fun, the "asshole" to "people just having a good time" ratio has tipped more and more towards "asshole" over the years, and every fucking jabroni with a mic thinks he's general patton

i'm even thinking about skipping battlefield 3

I just play with friends in a party and honestly I never hear anybody else other than who is in my party. The reality is that I'm not looking for some hardcore clan experience. So just playing with friends is fine and it means I don't have to hear anybody I don't want.

Just making a general comment about voice chat in mp. I haven't played Red Orchestra 2.

in my 30 or so hours of playtime i've barely every heard people speak on voip. one time i did however, it was a small group of dudes coordinating their attacks. it was pretty impressive and we were always winning due to that communication.

so i think you experienced an isolated incident.

This is me, too. There's also always a guy who has a cold or allergies, and is hacking, coughing, or sneezing into his mic. There are now people who bought Kinect, don't realize or care that its mic is on, and are treating the entire lobby to a conversation with their family.

The long-held standard guy-rapping-or-whistling-for-us-all is actually easier to deal with, because it's a constant stream. They're easier to identify and actively Mute.

I keep thinking this XBL problem would be less prevalent on Steam. Is it?

The Modern Warfares and such are just as crammed with fucktards as XBL since voice chat is a universal thing now - but, it's easier to jump out and go server browsing until you hit a decent one instead of just rolling the matchmaking dice.

I think I'll have a much better time if I just go with the old reliable "mute all" from now on.  I've played enough FPS games to pretty much know what I am supposed to be doing without having constant "commands" screamed into my ear from some rageaholic anal retentive micromanaging mouthbreather.  Hell, I rarely ever used text chat for BF1942 and got along just fine.
