Despite being 100% co-op it looks like nothing actually requires it

No idea why this game isn't dominating every second of the media that's not about Batman. Who cares about Nathan Drake's latest everyman regular joe slaughter fest in exotic locations?

Yeah, lots of people are talking about how this is gonna be bomba... why is that? Seems like the kind of game that would be a big hit nowadays.

Because it comes out in November with Skyrim, MW3... etc.

I don't think its gonna bomba. But its release will be greatly hit by all the sales going on (Black Friday, etc.)

I think, at least from the smarter people, it's because of the sheer competition. Skyrim, MW3, etc. (EDIT: See Demi.)

Then there's tons of people who never played SR2 and consider the series just an inferior clone of GTA based on some time with the first game.

And then there's other people, like a few people I know personally who have seen the trailers and think it looks awful and "unserious" so they don't understand why anyone would even be interested in such a title.

Although I shouldn't count one person in that last group, he buys games like Bad Company 2 for the single player and refuses to ever touch the multiplayer.

They should just release the first printing as "Saints Row: The Third: Game Of The Year Edition" for the tears alone.

I'm so tired of the notion that all open world games need to be serious and devoid of anything that's unrealistic. Most open world games should be stupid and wildly absurd like Just Cause 2 and Saints Row because anything less than that and you're basically wasting all the resources you've put into building the sandbox.
I honestly don't get it, they want open world games that are entirely linear and make you just do instanced missions so you can focus on the plot? Going off and throwing yourself in front of traffic for money or using a grapple to climb mountains and hijack planes are apparently not what we all envisioned from open world games, instead we wanted scripted missions full of cutscenes that happen the same way every time and if you try to make your own plan or leave the area you instantly fail. Who knew?

Even the original GTA let you take on missions in multiple ways to "solve" them.

this game DESERVES 10 million copies sold. EVERY SINGLE PIECE of media released has resulted with a fucking cheshire cat grin on my goddamn face. I have NEVER seen a game do that EVER.

Also, Saints Row is still seen a crappy GTA clone for some stupid ass reason.

"They" are just GTA fans and generally not fans of the genre, but not all GTA fans want the same thing. Many of us want non-linear puzzle "solving" to missions. Others just want a story.

thq is run by distinguished mentally-challenged fellows, if it doesn't sell to whatever arbitrary numbers they have set for it they'll cancel the series, even if it does well comparatively

BF3,MW3,Skyrim,Ass Creed...
Those four will sell like crazy, anything else will just get leftovers.Skyrim will be huge, very very huge and it launches few days before Saints.

Release date is crappy but it should do fine(in internet nerds eyes),somehow i don't think that THQ will be happy.

Is THQ doing bad? I always assumed they were safe on account of their children franchises, MMA, etc. They take the occasional risk, though, which is appreciated. And they love Russian cock.

We'll see after Saints Row 3,some people seem to be masturbating on THQ potential demise.
Judging by their latest financial report situation is not exactly rosy but sometimes one game is enough to turn the tide...Saints Row :-*

They have to pimp it hard

Have they officially announced that Tim & Eric had some involvement in the game? It popped up on their twitter that they were doing SOMETHING but I'm not sure what.

You would have to be insane not to jump at the chance to buy Volition. One of the best devs out there

speaking of insane, the Del Toro inSane game is from Volition.  Unless THQ collectively shits the bed, I don't think it'd be wise to just drop that whole deal.

and didn't one of the main dudes at Volition leave not too long ago?

and who owns the Freespace/Descent license and why aren't they doing anything with them? unrelated, but why isn't Freelancer on any digital download service? I need people to be angry towards

Interplay's only income source would be lawsuits, but at this point I think their lawyers are even eating Top Ramen.

the PC version of SR2 is one of the worst PC versions of anything, ever. What makes you think this will be any different

Yeah, the SR2 port was done by some near fly-by-night Eastern European operation that THQ just sent everything and they pooped it out. They randomly disappeared which is why there weren't more patches, Volition couldn't even get in contact with them ever.  :lol

The bad reaction to the port, coming from their PC background, was why they had Guerrilla done by their former co-workers and then brought the PC versions of Armaggeddon and SR3 in-house.
