I like it, but the tone shifts in the episodes are too much for me. One minute you're laughing balls, and the next they're pulling your heartstrings or being too earnest!

Scrubs is amazing. Even during the "serious" moments, the show never takes it self too seriously. Its one of the few well writen comedies on TV at the moment.

I downloaded and watched like all 5 seasons pretty quickly. While I enjoyed it, I really have no urge to watch the episodes again. I watch them on Comedy Central sometimes and it's a funny and touching show at times but it's not top-tier. As Corny said, the tone shifts are just too much, and they're kinda awkward. House has that too, but it's just better.

Exactly how I feel.  Cut that crap out and just give us the comedy.  It's so hokey and obvious when it goes serious. 

I also like the first 2-3 seasons more than what came after.

I also agree that it's crossed the line from being touching to corny, but they are still usually hilarious, especially the earlier episodes.  The episode with, umm, Brendon Fraser I think, where he

was dead the whole episode and helping his friend deal

was a fucking awesome episode though, and one of the most touching sitcoms I've ever seen.  I cried, I admit it.

At the behest of almost everyone, I've tried to watch this show several times.

I don't get it. The jokes are stupid, the characters are annoying and the constant shifts in tone are enough to make me sea sick. What's the appeal?
