Good tv love the interface. Its not like the new Smart Samsung TV's I want to kill myself looking at their interface. Its so much in your face. That sony tv makes it nice and clean looking.

What did you upgrade from? LED makes such a big difference over Plasma and LCD. I've been living with two LCD's that are on their way out. Waiting for a 2k/4k display to get under the 3 grand area. That or go laser projection for a few grand more.

my parents bought a bravia xbr last christmas and the screen already died and sony won't stand behind their product, if you do get one get a service plan to go along with it (or just get a samsung, they have a much more consistent and higher quality screen source)

Drew is right on one thing a warranty is always a good idea when it comes to tv's especially with how expensive they are. I just get a squaretrade for three years. If its gonna break statistically speaking it will be within those 3 years under normal use. And since most of those third party warranty companies take place after manufacture warranty your covered for 4 years.

god you are such a twit

it's probably not a common problem but it's definitely not a rare one, after a lot of research i found that sony is among the companies that get their screens from the lowest common chinese denominator, samsung however is not, there are other companies in both camps.  samsung also has exponentially better customer service.

I've had an XBR3 or 4 (I think 4) since ~2007.  I've liked it.  Actually, the biggest annoyance is how using the native PC resolution (1366 x 768) puts it in "PC mode", locking out advanced video options.  My 360 upscaling to that resolution compared to 720p upscaled by my TV would be preferable if not for how washed out it ends up looking.  But that has nothing to do with the the XBR brand or anything.

I need a new TV eventually.  For some reason the coolest feature on TVs these days are thin bezels.

I've had a Bravia 40" for about 3 years; it's the only Sony hardware I've had which HASN'T needed repairs. Every other piece of Sony gear has used up its entire suite of insurance/extended-warranty. Friends with other TVs have all been jealous of its picture.

Nice to see they've abandoned the xross media bar for basic appliance interface.

Ive never needed a tv repaired, then again I get a new one every 2 to 3 years and give away or sell the old one.
