I love Batman Beyond, but I dunno man.

Honestly, I didn't like the ending. I loved the events leading up to the ending, but the ending itself? Jesus Christ, Rocksteady, I felt shafted.

I'm like... *turns off game*

Yeah, true enough.

Speaking of loading screens, Dark Souls' has one where it has a picture and title of one its miracles, 'Homeward Bound', but the description for it on the screen is for a completely different spell. WTF!  I suppose the patch'll sort it out, though. Lol

Beat the story. So far, I think I very much prefer the more "tight" Arkham Asylum.

The final fight pretty much sums it up.

"Wait, you aren't even supposed to BE here. WTF?"

"Oh, well, I felt like it. Surprise!"

That said, this fight was way more better than Asylum's. It's really give and take between the two.

on the other hand Arkham City has better mechanics.

And honestly, I fail to see how much more tight AA is than AC, if you just stick with the story. It's about the same thing if you do.

Its villains are certainly misogynist, and the word "bitch" is a staple.  The game itself, not so much, nor does it in any way promote or mitigate sexist behavior.  Someone's been reading too many moronic Kotaku articles.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Penguin's section in the museum.

Gotta say, its about as great as I imagined.  I have absolutely no issue with the open world nature of the game.  The game never forces you to go one way or the other, and you don't miss out on anything.  You can tackle something WHEN you want something tackled, save the Riddler challenges, which I always tackled at the end-game of the first release any way.  Once you get the grapple boost...omfg.  Better navigation than Spider-man 2.

And christ the combat is fun.  I would love more games to use a system like this.

Only thing I suppose I can knock is that I'm not as big a fan of the Riddler challenges in this game...they seem to chaotic with how their spread out and how you attain/complete his goals.  I would rather they were just random trophies and riddles like the first game, not switches and weight pads and lights and what-not.  Kinda confusing.  Also, the novelty of it being a Batman game gets kinda tarnished considering there's so many of the villains in this...I was hoping they'd leave a few out to keep some sort of mystery.  Oh well.

Why did they included New Game+? Who wants to play this twice? And you have to do all the side-quests again (except Riddler) for Perfect Knight (100%). What the fuck.

What does Microsoft have to certify that takes a goddamned month

I'm imagining some Texan tech center filled with dead 360s and there's a dude staring at an executable saying "Yup, it's Batman!!!"

does gfwl involve literal molestation of games as well as figurative, and each and every physical and electronic copy must be personally defiled in a ritual sex act

I'm trying to figure out if my laptop can run this game, but I've never understood PC specs.

My laptop has:

4 GB Ram (I know that's enough, that's the only thing I can figure out)
Intel Core i7 1.60 GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670

According to Steam it needs:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon X2 4800+
Memory: 2GB RAM
Video Card: ATI 3850HD 512 MB or NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB

Could anybody help me out?

Definitely an anti-climatic ending.  I couldn't believe THAT was the last part of the game when the last fight was over.   Then the last Catwoman mission follows and feels out of place because of it, although it does set up for the "epilogue" stuff you get for clearing the game.  I just don't know when or if I'm going to go back and do everything, because there's a ton of other stuff to play.

I agree with Demi on Arkham Asylum feeling tighter.  It definitely had a better story, but Arkham City has better, more varied game play.  I thought the original rated an 8/10 and I'd give this game the same score.

Is there a point of no return I should watch out for if I intend to collect all the trophies?

I might have passed it already: I'm at Protocol 10 right now and it SUCKS for exploring, so unless that stops at some point, I'll just leave it for New Game+.

The only thing missable is the Catch achievement - throw the Remote Batarang at Azrael (before his questline is done)

You can go back and explore the city after the game

Beat the game recently. Fun game although I would be lying if I said it hit me as deeply as the original did. The catwoman stuff was also completely thrown in there. She's a fun character and a game centered more around her would actually be pretty cool but she was pretty shoehorned into this one.

I think if I was a bigger comic book nerd I would have liked it better. There seemed to be a lot of fan service here that I have a feeling is probably more suited for hardcore comic book types.

My copy arrived via hand-carry on Friday. Played the first hour this morning, before coming to work. Was almost late for work because of it.

This feels more like my kind of game than Batmetroid did. I mean, I know there will be Metroid elements here as well, but it feels more open, less constricted. I know that may end up making it feel like less of a focused experience, but whatevs.

I saw there's a 'cheevo for completing NG+, so I'm playing on Normal, and will tackle NG+ with a beefed up Brucie.

So far: MUCHO MAS EXCELLENTE

VR MISSIONS, THESE ARE MY BALLS. PLEASE STAY OFF OF THEM.

The VR missions are annoying as hell. The things previously said here about them, how the game assumes the player knows the controls are true. It assumes the player has JUST RECENTLY completed Arkham Asylum, and still remembers the control scheme perfectly, and starts you off with all the stuff you should have earned during a full AA run. Then it piles more on top. It's honestly a little overwhelming, and then the VR missions come in and require that you ace these ungodly runs -- but the flight/divebomb stuff is NEW to Arkham City! There's no reason they shouldn't have a tutorial for this stuff!

I'm not understanding the dislike of the Catwoman missions. It's largely same-y, and the traversal is limited compared to Batman's grapnel-boost, but whatevs. For a while, you're staring at 'dat ass instead of Bat-ass.

Played a bit longer today, and really began to feel this game. It's slick, and it's a bunch of fun. They took all the mechanics from Arkham Asylum, and just beefed them up a little bit, and then asked all the good design questions: "what if you only have a limited amount of time?" and "what if you should beat up everyone EXCEPT one guy?" and other means of just tweaking their basic mechanic a little and opening up variations.

In Asylum, I think the guys with knives had to be cape-stunned before you could hit them, right? I am really enjoying the intuitive knife-dodge, and the satisfying payoff of knife-takedowns.

Anyway, I made it all the way through the museum and its inhabitants, back out to chase the "ninjas" and then took a side-trip to the Church, just so I could start opening up the Riddler content, which I'd been finding all over but had no means of "solving." (Game won't let you scan anything until you've spoken with the Riddler at least once (which is kind of lame)).

Good game is good. Saints is going to distract me from this, I'm sure, but it will be a near thing.

Runs smooth on a Core 2 Duo + 460GTX. Had it drop all of one time, when I was in that little room at the top of the cathedral. That's it though.

Anyway, with 70 hours of Skyrim and beating the finale of Saints Row 3, I'm ready to get down with some Batman. The world was a bit confusing and daunting at first, it doesn't really do a great job of introducing you to how the open world works, in my opinion, but I've got it figured out now and I'm really enjoying it. Arkham City does a really great job of expanding on what Arkham Asylum did in making it feel like you really are Batman. And swinging around a big chunk of city feels pretty cool. Inclusion of sidemissions and even more little things to find and do is a nice inclusion. I'm enjoying it.

Yeah, that was my reaction, pretty much exactly.

The only place I've been tripped up on mechanics are the new things they added to Arkham City, or the few things they've changed. The game just DOES NOT 'SPLAIN IS'SELF.

...Coming out of Dark Souls, I should be used to this crap by now.  :)

AC's pushing pretty hard for the number 1 spot on my list, even giving Skyrim a run for it's money. Never thought I'd say that! I like how it introduces even more gadgets and gizmos, and integrates them very well into the world, the Riddler trophies and riddles that are even more difficult to figure out and acquire, the way the game gives you leeway in handling sidemissions and in how they still feel like they're part of the world, and the way they've broadened the variety of locations even while keeping it within a decayed urban environment. Great game is great.
