Xbox LIVE Fall Public Preview Program

Xbox LIVE Public Preview Program

At E3 we announced the new Xbox LIVE dashboard which will deliver intuitive navigation, increased responsiveness and improved engagement with Xbox experiences – all beginning this holiday. Now that our work on the dashboard is almost complete, we are announcing an open call for all Xbox LIVE members to register to participate in a preview program to help us test the system. This is an important program as we continually strive to ensure the reliability of a service that reaches tens of millions globally. We could not do so without the ongoing help of our great community.

Once this program is kicked off, an update will be pushed to your console that will contain select dashboard features, including:

New design with integrated Kinect voice and gesture controls
Beacons
Facebook Sharing
Cloud Storage for Game Saves and Xbox LIVE Profile
Other features and entertainment partner apps may come into view during the program period.

Note: A console in the program is expected to remain fully compatible with standard retail consoles not in the program. (e.g. party chat will function)

For those familiar with previous registrations for our program, we have a new model for registering your consoles this year.  The new model is a more automated process that should make it easier for you.  We will not ask you to type in your console information upon initial registration; once you are approved to participate in the program, look for details on our portal about how to register your console.

Click here for the initial register for the Public Preview.

The latest information will be available to you via the www.connect.microsoft.com/xboxliveupdate program portal.

I got up to the Agree To Terms, and then the "Continue" is unresponsive. Probably a Safari problem. Maybe the Archangel Steven Jobs will fix it for me.

"If you have been accepted in the Xbox LIVE Preview program: Sign into Connect.microsoft.com for details on how to register your console"

https://connect.microsoft.com/XboxLIVEUpdate/content/content.aspx?ContentID=26574

Basically you get a key from the site. Enter the key on the 360 and then download a small app. Run the app and it registers your console.

New Dash is available now if you are in the preview program. Just log on and you will be prompted to update.

Xbox.com has also been reworked if you sign in there to reflect the new dash.

My initial thought is much more snappy and responsive. As fast as I click the analog stick the selection on screen moves. It was always delayed with the prior dash.

No youtube in this though which I thought they said was supposed to be in it.

There are some things I don't like though.  Like I can't figure out how to go to just Xbox Live Arcade titles but maybe that's just because I'm not use to it.

Remember that if you're in the private beta program you're under nda and that MS can do whatever they want if you leak info. I wouldn't say shit.

And yeah maybe I'm being dumb but I just can't find a way to just look at xbox live arcade games. It seems to lump all games together. If that's true somebody needs to whine about that.

I'm finding this too. Took me forever to find Redeem Code today, and there's no XBLA section anymore, it's just games.

You can sort by just XBLA games by picking game type in the games menu but I agree it does make it confusin. If they don't fix that, they will see a drop in XBLA sales and then wonder why.

There was an update today for this but no real visible changes or additions. One neat thing though is that all the preview people get UFC 139 for free on Saturday on xbox live streaming. You just have to order it on the dash.

You also have to provide a credit card in order to get UFC 139, paypal doesn't work only credit cards work it seems. I'm gonna get a virtual one just so I can watch it free. No more expensive beers/drinks/food to see a good fight.

That's ironic. I'd love to go out to a sports bar and buy greasy food and expensive beers, just to be able to enjoy the fights in a group, live.

Hey, I got this email a few days ago:

Quote
You are in theXbox LIVE Update Fall 2011 Public Preview Program and according to our records you haven’t yet completed the console registration process. We’ve released the latest dashboard update to this “select” audience so if you haven’t completed all the steps to get your console added, you’re missing out.  But don’t worry, there’s still time to getengaged today – don’t delay, it’s simple to log into the Connect Portal and look for the detailed information under the Announcements section on the Home page:Starting 11/1 - Console Registrationshttp://connect.microsoft.com/xboxliveupdate

So, am I in this program or what? When I click the link it tells me to goto my pending actions but theres no link fr that.

Did you enter the code on the website and download the registration app on the 360?

FIOS TV is pretty neat. I thought I had to pay for this but it just seems to be working. The channels just appear on my xbox I guess because I already subscribe to FIOS.

edit: although mine doesn't seem to be HD for some reason.

edit2: some channels are hd and some aren't. Like I can get ESPN HD.
