Supposedly the new race in WoW are Pandas, which just goes to show you now that Blizzard is hard at work on a real game (Diablo 3, natch) they don't have time for that uh, other thing with the chat.

Blizzard DotA looks awful.  Why didn't they hire Icefrog back in 2007 instead of letting him get away to Valve?  ???

From the SC2 balance discussion: "Dustin Browder just said "Terran is overpowered" referring to GSL Code S"

About fucking time someone said it. Terran has been overpowered since the game came out, it's just that it took players awhile to exploit it. Apparently he also said the 111 build is overpowered, and Protoss will be buffed soon.

I thought it was being exploited from the very beginning? Toss buff? Wooo

Initially it was exploited to a certain degree, but I tend to think players are fully exploiting it now. Terran micro is more effective than the other races, perhaps because it's more like BW than the other races so there's less to figure out (plus Marines are very good...). IMO Marauders, Ghosts, and Mules need to be nerfed. The problem with Marauder nerfs is that it could imbalance TvZ of course (due to the Roach), which complicates things. But right now Marauders make Protoss look like a joke, plus they make the Zerg's tier 3 ground unit (Ultralisks) a joke. Likewise Ghosts have longer range than High Templars so they can devastate a Protoss army with EMPs, and of course snipe destroys Ultralisks as well lol. And Mules allow a Terran to out-macro an opponent who has twice as many bases smh...

Anyway, new SC2 units:

I actually just played like 50 games last weekend for the first time in 6 months. Really out of the loop Funny to see 1/1/1 is dominating again having used it almost exclusively against every race throughout the second half of the beta :lol

Anyway, forgot about Blizzcon completely! I see there's Starcraft being cast right now. Awesome

edit: Swapped over to the WoW stream for a second and people in arena now play with combat text off because the numbers are so ridiculously big :rofl

The Mothership is kind of being replaced by the Nexus having the ability to recall armies. Wonder if we'll see Toss building proxy Nexuses in people's bases lol

But yea, those Toss units look pretty meh. Although I'm scared of that flying unit that does aoe dmg to air units. As if Phoenixes owning Mutas wasn't enough, Toss gets another unit to make Mutas irrelevant  #zergwhine

-moving burrowed Banelings  :o
-charging Ultralisks :o
-Viper w/reverse Dark Swarm from BW

I gotta say some of this sounds overpowered. I'd imagine Blizz will tinker with how powerful this stuff is long before it comes out. Definitely want to get some more impressions on the units

Also I like how the Thor has returned to its pre-beta form, when it was a one time only unit like the Mothership. But god dammit, how come Zerg doesn't get a unit like that #zergwhine

Is Blizzard DOTA really real? That trailer and the fact that it has DOTA in the title screams joke to me.

yea it looks absolutely horrible

Blizz must be pissed the dota genre is out of their hands. I'd imagine WarCraft IV will be their actual attempt at getting in the market

So, are DOTA games the new FPS? Is every company just going to make one from now on?

I thought maybe it was a joke from them considering how long people have been saying they should get into that market. Especially because they used DOTA which I feel is really dumb on their part. It looks like a fan mod for Starcraft II and not an actual product (that I suspect will cost money in some way) from such a prolific developer as Blizzard.

Is it true that they had the chance to hire icefrog but backed out of it? Seems like they messed up if that's true. Could have had the real DOTA successor.

Icefrog went to work at Valve in 2009, which means Blizzard had 4 years to hire him and have a monopoly on the Dota market.

1.Think this is a smart move by Blizzard.
2. Expansion seems catered to Asian market, guess they expect WoW to hold out there longer. I don't think they will focus on the West anymore with it.
3. Blizzard DOTA looks like a Nintendo product, there will definately be people playing this over LOL and DOTA 2.

Exactly Grouch and Archie.

This is a typical Nintendo style fanservice game, the new Nintendo. Not the Nintendo that let Sega make F-Zero GX.

I know the new SC2 units are going to be tinkered with considerably before the alpha, beta, and launch...but I'm still kind of shocked at how ridiculous some of them seem. And in terms of new abilities...

As a zerg player that makes my dick hard, but that's crazy. There's no way that burrow speed makes it into the final game  :lol

Dunno bros, this game seemed a few Terran nerfs away from stabilizing/being balanced. Now it's about to be completely reset. I realize that's the point of expansions, but this almost looks like Command And Conquer

lol some people are suggesting Nestea threw the final game
http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/lljey/worst_final_game_ever/c2tngsc

I will say Nestea's decision making was very poor throughout the game, and it did seem like he should have won. But on the other hand Nestea fell apart once MVP started harassing him, which is nothing new; the same thing happened in their recent GSL matches. Still, Nestea's decision to do nothing with a deadly maxed army and 13k banked minerals was beyond puzzling. Plus he completely stopped injecting his Hatcheries, which is not something the best Zerg in the world is known for.

Although if you watched the rewards ceremony it was very odd that Nestea was crying. He's a three time GSL champion, he's not hurting for money and he's good friends with MVP, his teammate. Plus MVP immediately left the stage after the win, which was pretty odd. Still, I'm going to say Nestea couldn't handle the multiple attacks and wound up throwing his army away.

But I dunno Manabyte.

Part of what made world pvp so good was that you always played with the same people on 1 server... now shit is so fragmented.

Still very tempting to go back again...

The Raid bosses will be contested with people on your server, not in a dungeon queue. The whole purpose of them is to get people back out into the world.

They made it sound like open to anyone. Wouldn't make sense to instance them if they want to get people back out into the world.

DotA is pretty huge.  DotA 1 has ~20 million people playing it (half of them in China).  Riot Games was bought out for $400 million for LoL and has 15 million accounts and 4 million monthly users.
