Your dream country to live in
« on: November 02, 2011, 07:34:46 AM »
Which country would you like to live in if you had the choice?

I'm being overwhelmed by the relative freedom I have now in picking my next destination. Although I feel I will be back in this place next year.

If there were truly no borders though I'd like to live in (for a while):

I think the freedom and openess, plus the amazing landscapes of these countries is what drives me the most. North America would be my dream.

I can still get a working holiday visa for canada in the next 2 years... But thats not really much since thats only for a year.

Southern France is where I want to retire, assuming that I'll be rich and speak French fluently by then.

Edit:

And there's a place called France in our inevitable apocalyptic future.

Uruguay (stable, growing economy. Their banks and economy are doing fine because they didn't buy any toxic mortgage bullshit. The only way it could be better is if it was a non-extradition country.)

But what about drugs man?

Cannabis is more legal there than Amsterdam or anywhere else for that matter. It is legal to cultivate your own. The only two South American countries that have more cannabis plants per capita are Colombia (The only place on this side of the world with more dope growing going on than Colombia is Mexico. In the 70s there was more dope grown in Colombia than the rest of the world combined, barring India, Afghanistan, and Jamaica.) and Brazil (local demand is greater there than anywhere else in the world other than the United States.)

Magic Mushrooms grow wild there.

Psychedelic Precursor Chemicals are way easier to get too.

I could grow or make whatever I wanted. If it was a non-extradition country, I could make hundreds of millions of hits of acid for example.

USA of course.  Land of the free.  Home of the brave.  You fucking commies

Really though.  No idea.  Everywhere seems to have some pretty big issues right now.  None of it seems like "dream" material.  Somewhere in latin america or the Mediterranean most likely though

Honestly I think tribal life in a tropical locale is where it's at. Only work like 20 hours a week to take care of survival needs, live off the land, smoke loads of dope, take ayahuasca and pursue personal spirituality, live with the ocean, twould be the life for me.

Develop cancer, die painfully at 50?

Develop cancer, die comfortably with access to heroin, opium, etc. I don't really see the need to live to be 90 and have a frail meaningless existence

Besides "witch doctors" usually keep a garden full of the plants a lot of medicine is derived from anyway.

The MAOI in Ayahuasca would shorten your life pretty drastically. There's a reason why they only do it once a month even though they have gallons of the shit. I'd stick to wild magic shrooms. They grow all over the tropics. They also grow in the PNW too. You gotta be careful with the ones that grow naturally in the Pac. NW, those are NOT the Cubensis you've had before  :lol :lol :lol :lol

Yes absolutely, but avoid the new Blu-Ray versions.  They were fucked up by the director's "new vision" for the film.

new vision in this instance means throwing a lot of sand directly into the face of anyone watching the films.

and yes, the second is as good as the first.

I've liked what I've seen of Croatia, but I've never been there. I think I would like Spain's lifestyle or it would suit me well.

I've always had an inkling for living in a seaside town. Something like a fishing villlage. I did live in Santa Cruz for a couple years and enjoyed everything but the people. On the other hand, I'm sure I would like to have access to technology and convenience as well. Don't always get that with small seaside towns.

Italy, or, more specifically, Venice. I am absolutely in love with that old-world architecture and I love the idea of a city where the sea plays such a huge role that the two are almost one. Venitians also seem really relaxed and laid-back, which is the kind of lifestyle I prefer.

Oz. I would rule the munchkin kingdom with an iron fist, and develop some kind of Strategic Defense Initiative against flying houses from Kansas.

Failing that, is there a country where eastern Europe is exporting most of their pornstars? I'd move there. Wait, no, they've already exported their pornstars. Therefore: San Fernando Valley. Or is that San Bernadino Valley?

Germany, or Argentina.

if i don't live in one of these places, i'll probably kill myself to be completely honest... no fucking way i'm staying in shitsville, Arizona, or really anywhere on the SW. I really just don't have any desire to live in the United States, like, at all.  I am just morbidly depressed there, there is no opportunity, no community, nothing.  Since i've left i've never been so happy, and could really see myself living in Germany until I died.  Now, just to get that permit..

The city is ranked 12th in the world on Mercer's quality of life index and I think the 5th highest ranked eco city. The weather looks phenomenal.  That's just what I've read on wikipedia, though.  Tell me what living there is like from your perspective.  My other best option is moving back to D.C. and this looks a little nicer.

Do you like a fresh breeze? :teehee

Wind is intense here, I love Wellington wouldn't move anywhere else in NZ, but it's not a place you want to go for the weather, it's great in summer but pretty lame the rest of the year. It's a great city though, well designed, everything's pretty central and branches out from there so you don't ever need to rely on a car, there's a good food culture with lots of quality restaurants and cafes, job markets decent too for skilled workers, and there's a lot of hospo stuff if you're looking for casual/intermediate work. Basically it's the best city in NZ fuck Auckland.

I don't know where I'd want to live other than NZ, I haven't travelled much, I'd like to try America and Canada (NYC and Vancouver specifically), and in Europe I'm interested in Turkey and France, I really liked this little city Delft I visited in Holland too, so idyllic.
