I'll be honest. I don't really like it as a shooter. And in fact would like it a lot more if they reduced the shooting a whole shitload in the game. The fun bit is being in a weird universe that takes itself too seriously but in that case this is a good thing. Very atmospheric game. I got tired of the shooting halfway through the game. But I dig the weird shit in the game.

I did enjoy combat in the DLC more than the gears games.  Main game was a lot of running around, fighting a handful of enemies the same way (dodge, light, shoot, occasional flare), and repeat.   DLC had choice encounters where you're summoning objects into the world by illuminating floating text and you could wrangle enemies to a certain word to trap them.

and yeah, aiming is really responsive in the game.  More so than most shooters, except like Vanquish and maybe Dead Space 2.

the creepiest thing was his unblinking vinyl wife. her dead gaze and robot jaw made pyramid head seem downright mundane.

I did really, really enjoy Alan Wake. The action was enjoyable, and set pieces and story were pretty damn engaging. The DLC was even better the main game.

Really hope the franchise stays alive. They could do something as zany and cool as Assassin's creed with the story elements they have put in place.

As almost everyone I liked the setting and polish, gameplay was meh though and I quit halfway.

Now if they released a PC version...

Can't wait to see what Sony's crack team of focus-testers has cooked up now that they've decided we're finally ready for a zombie-themed first-person shooter.

That looks like Rage without the good graphics or the stellar art direction.

I'm playing Rage right now and I see neither good graphics or stellar art direction

That is awesome. After this one is a success, they can do THPS3+4 HD collection. Then leave the rest of the series to rot.

Alan Wake looks like Alan Wake. Doesn't look like they cheaped out. Will happily buy.

Have you ever played anything from Platinum Games Green? or anything from Kamiya?

Yeah and I didn't like Bayonetta (like DMC and Viewtiful Joe tons, however). This trailer is pretty lame and the game looks like bad Ninja Gaiden with the slicing tech from that original tech demo. But hey, I'm sure it plays great.

The tech demo just seemed like it was going to be a different game than all the other action games out there and it actually made me interested in MGS.

I wish they'd re-release Viewtiful Joe on PSN.
