I like the way factions are handled in Skyrim, you never get the feeling that either the Empire or the Stormcloaks are ever "evil" they're just groups that are both looking out for their own interests. And then there's the Foresworn, they're not a major player but they still play a role in the game and just help to flesh out the overall experience.

Haven't finished the Dark Brotherhood questline, but it looks like they're going to play a major role in the events of the game as well.

I haven't joined either the Stormcloaks or the Empire, because both seem in the wrong (and also the right).

Yeah, that's pretty much my point. They're both flawed, but they also have realistic motivations and you can kind of see where each side is coming from. Makes it hard to choose one or the other, but also makes their situations, and the situation the game puts you in, that much more interesting.

I'm slightly dyslexic, so sometimes I mix up my run and shout buttons; one time I did that outside of a city with some furries in front of me, and I accidentally shouted one to death and had to fight the other two.  Not only did I not feel bad about it at all, but the guards who watched it all happen didn't seem to give a shit either.

morokei?

if so, when you initiate the battle immediately run into the hallway and close the door. wait for him to lose interest then open the door and shoot an arrow at him (for massive damange).
then run away and hide. wait for him to lose interest again

rinse and repeat for an hour.

Morokei is easy as fuck. Stand behind pillars and take potshots at him. He never get's up on you, which makes it super easy to dodge his OP lightning and if you have the shout of time, it's even easier.

The item you get after beating him is so cash.

i even had to tell lydia to go back home because she kept running in on her own and getting her ass killed.
even when i removed all her weapons she would PICK UP the weapons i dropped on the ground and go and fight. she's tenacious, i give her that.

I seem to be one of the few that doesn't go out of his way to slaughter anyone who isn't trying to slaughter ME in these games. I don't even hunt animals unless they're trying to kill me. It's mostly because I'm anal and I worry they'll be tied to a quest. Near Solitude there was a rich asshole and his wife and guard on the way to the princesses wedding and I wanted to kill him so bad but then my mind flashes and I'm like WHAT IF HE'S PART OF A LATER QUEST and put my bow down.

Mastered the Sneak tree but my Weapon/Armor skills are definitely lagging. So I think I'll switch up standing stones now to Warrior. Lvl.36 right now.

Oh and the Masks you can acquire in this game are pretty damn awesome. They just look cool and have positive skill boosts to match the looks.

The miscellaneous quest section needs work. Not all quests are added to it, and ones that are there don't always get a quest marker.

I have a letter from Gorm, to aldis, from mortath or wherever. I have no idea who aldis is or where he is. Thankfully I remember who Gorm is, but he won't repeat his information. So unless someone here remembers this part, I will never be able to do this quest.

I don't know if this is causing your problem or not, but just remember that to get a quest marker for a miscellaneous quest, you have to check Miscellaneous  AND the sub-quest you want marked. That caused me some problems at first because I was checking the sub-quest, but I didn't have Miscellaneous checked so the marker wasn't showing up.

Doesn't the game say Quest Failed if you kill someone of importance, even if you don't have that quest?  I think FO3 or NV did, but I can't quite remember.

edit: Now that I think about it, NV definitely did.  I remember smoking some incapacitated Powder Ganger relatively early on and failing a number of quests that I never received.

I know. S,e subquests sow on the map when you do this, some don't. And some don't appear on the list at all, like the one I mentions.

I usually always kill anyone I come across that are alone in their homes (or out in the wilds...)

What justification do I use? Merely because the opportunity presents itself for an easy stealth kill.

Still playing a goody two-shoes though. Funny how that works.

I rarely kill random people in games like this mainly because quests are often attached to them and by killing them I'm losing out on game content. A game has to be really designed in a smart manner before I start playing it "evil" because most games still simply punish the evil route by simply removing game content.

yet I couldn't kill that pesky jester! I'm sure he has turns up down the line. In fact, BobfromPikeCreek pretty much confirmed it.

There's so much content anyway, that I care little if a few quest givers 'accidentally fell on their bread knives' while alone. At home. In the middle of the night...  :mystery

Quick question that I'm going to put in spoilers do I don't ruin anything for anybody.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I just completed the quest Glory of the Dead and got the achievement for it. I talked to another person in the companions and he gave me a quest called Trouble in Skyrim which involves killing Vampires. My question is, is that a real quest or one of the "radiant AI" generated quests because If I've finished the storyline campaign for the companions I'll move on to something else rather than doing an infinite number of randomly generated companion quests?

once you do a quest for farkas and vilkas they will ask you to cure them like you cured kodlak, and after that you have the opportunity to cure yourself if you want (provided you have a witch head to throw on the fire).  then i think the quests become radiant.

Just got the perk the final lv.90 Alchemy perk that allows you to see all an ingredients properties. I can make, with a certain mixture, a potion that can be sold for 2K Gold. Lawdy. And that's just with two ingredients. I'm sure I can add another that'll make it skyrocket.

If you guys every play through again, definitely take up Alchemy. Alchemy allows you to get, relatively, a lot of money at the beginning which means that money can be put towards training which means you'll level up even quicker with a skill you want to use but not grind.

Level 29, getting back into the mainline quests :lol  Just finished up with the Thieves Guild, great questline but I still need to do more sidequests to 'bring them back to glory'. Archery is getting pretty tired too, I just wreak havoc, Epic Elven Bow deals 53 Base dmg and the perks + Enchantments on top of that make it pretty OP with high Enchanting, I could've done this a lot faster and at a lower level too if I didn't waste perks and skilpoints in other things.

Just disenchanted a weapon with a Paralyze enchantment, been enchanting Iron Daggers I forge for easy cash. Yeah, you can make A LOT of money fast this way. My crappy $4 daggers I've forged for leveling smithing suddenly become worth $500+ :bow2

Stupid noob question: How do hybrid-type builds tend to work in these games? I initially went orc and was dumping points into heavy armor and two-hand weapons, but after a few hours I was already bored. I rerolled dark elf, and I want to do something like use a dagger in my mainhand for sneak attacks and destruction magic in my offhand unless I'm going to get whomped by everything I fight

like in regard to what exactly?

it's fairly simple. if you have the ingredients you select what you want to make and it gets made.

i make a lot of iron stuff and i need a few leather straps and some iron ingots. the leather straps are made by first turning pelts into leather, then leather into leather straps.
the iron ingots are made by smelting iron ore into ingots.

you can also make stuff that just uses leather as well so sometimes you wont want to turn the leather into strips.

i imagine it's similar to potions but i don't make those.

You can level up every skill to 100 if you want to.

Someone explain weapon crafting and potion crafting. I never do it in these sorts of games but I'd like to give it a try.

like in regard to what exactly?

it's fairly simple. if you have the ingredients you select what you want to make and it gets made.

i make a lot of iron stuff and i need a few leather straps and some iron ingots. the leather straps are made by first turning pelts into leather, then leather into leather straps.
the iron ingots are made by smelting iron ore into ingots.

you can also make stuff that just uses leather as well so sometimes you wont want to turn the leather into strips.

i imagine it's similar to potions but i don't make those.

Like for the smithing for instance there are like 4 devices. The forge. The tanning thing, etc. It just seems complicated looking at it from the outside.
