And I think I've encountered a glitch that wont let me finish the Imperial Legion questline. I have a quest indicator over Legate Rikkete that says "Regain the Pale" but talking to her does nothing. Shit.

the ability to summon a dragon. Now I'm reclaiming the land for the empire against the hippie Stormcloaks and during EVERY battle I summon my dragon and he just fucking tears everything up. it's amazing

There's also the Stormcloak questline, but I'm not sure if you can do that and the Imperial questline.

90 hours lvl.68? I think. The Master Destruction spells are pretty bad. I wish they provided higher powered shooting or concentration spells instead we get one large spell that takes too much time to charge and doesn't even do as much damage as the weaker spells as far as DPS.

put a few hours in today and hit lvl 11. For some reason, I'm being pretty disciplined so far in clearing up the quests i've got before schlepping around random areas. It's very satisfying but totally different from how I played Oblivion.

Character-wise, i'm mostly a straight magic user, going heavy on destruction and restoration. Spending plenty of time on alchemy and smithing too, and just starting to buff up archery a bit.

The high-rez texture mod that's out now is nice but limited to the starting areas of the game. Very easy to install and manage with the Nexus Mod Manager so everyone should give it a shot.

Made Dragonplate Armor (Light class), refined it and enchanted... my total Armor is now at 2200 constant.

So I can get things to Legendary no problem with my enchanted suit, but I'm reading that the perks don't just make it easier to get to Legendary, but they also improve the armor rating at Legendary. Know if that's true? I have no perk points in smithing because at this point I'm actually finding Daedric bows and Dragonscale armor in chests.

Yep, what happens is that there's no true ceiling for stat gains as far as maximum points in Armor rating or Weapon damage. So if you get the perk for a certain material type it makes it easier to hit Legendary which makes it easier to get higher states when refining them. I went up the Heavy Armor side to get to the Dragon Armor so I'm able to the absolute best out of these materials when refining them. Though in my case I enchanted 4 items to give me 29% to my Smith output and a potion that raises it by 120%? so the output was even more extreme.

I've "beaten" the game. definitely the best main quest line in one of these games I've played this generation.

the only big side quest line i'm missing is the Dark Brotherhood. I did the quest in Windhelm and i have the message from the courier with the "WE KNOW" message and i know where the door is.

just need to figure out what the next step is.

regarding the 9th dragon priest mask. it's alright. it's the best in terms of armor and the perk is decent. i never get closed to death so it doesn't matter.

i installed 2 mods tonight as well. the better water mod and the one that forces the game to use 4gigs of memory. (it doesnt use more than 2 regardless of your system)

the latter is real good and makes the game run a lot better. in-doors i get locked 60fps. out doors i average 50-60fps depending on the situation, which is about a 15% increase from before.

the better water mod looks cool.

gonna try out the improve flora mod as well.

You can buy good base sets but they ain't shit till you upgrade them. It's also the easiest skill to upgrade....

Ye BTs alchemy talk made me decide to start boosting Alchemy next time I sit down with this. Pretty much just for the enchanting/smithing boosting tonics

Had to start over after the first hour. I started out playing like FO3 --a good character, but extremely sticky fingers-- but since it turns out even if nobody sees you, they notice stuff is missing later, somehow deduce that it was you and hire some thugs to whoop your ass, rather than get chased all over the map, I decided to start over and keep the shenanigans to a minimum, at least for a while. The town guards won't even help. I now see I probably could've won those encounters with that elf in the first town on my side, but they chased me out before I even got to speak to him.

Second time around, I made my guy look just like Max von Sydow.

edit: I only just now noticed he actually voices a character in the game.

37 hours in and level 21. I've ditched the shield in favor of destruction magic for my left hand. But I have a n00b question:
What is the best strategy when having to fight a dragon alone?

I've done it once, and after failing 5 or so times, I've resorted to finding a spot behind a rock/cliff that the dragon can't hit me and cheese him with arrows til he dies. So the cheap way. There has to be a more satisfying way to do this.
