the zero punctuation review convinced me to hold off on this for a while.  Just doesn't sound like it hits the right spots for me.  Sounds like dark souls and demon's souls are my rpgs of choice this winter.

Isn't the whole point of Zero Punctuation to sarcastically bash whatever's currently popular?

yeah, i just made a decision about a game to buy because of some dumb comedy and sarcasm because i'm totally distinguished mentally-challenged

real answer:  he made a lot of good points about the balance-- money becoming worthless, potion spamming, hard enemies being simple to exploit because of dumb AI/collision.   i care more about this kind of stuff over quantity of shit to do.

Techland also released a patch that broke their game, but they also accidentally created awesome bugs like "Press W to No-clip".

Balls to this, I can't buy the Riften house because a quest got bugged.

Don't enter a place called Cragslane Cavern unless a quest instructs you to.

I think Bethesda should hire me in a special QA capacity. I'll be the guy who patrols the office and randomly smashes the heads of unexpecting programmers into their monitors while yelling FIX YOUR SHIT YOU ROTTEN FUCK. HUH. FIX YOUR STUPID SHIT.

Can't believe that at the end of the console generation, now that they've built up a lot of experience with the hardware and the engine, they staight up went and made their buggiest game since Daggerfall. Had to make that catchy release date, I guess.

I have two weird bugs at the moment

- Anytime I'm near water, I get glitches like I'm entering/exiting it constantly even if I'm on dry land
- Constant sound effects of items being knocked over inside buildings

As for interesting quests

I'll be heading to Markarth after this quest I'm on now. I got a not from a guy who wants me to bring him a war hammer with fear that he figured I'd found in a dungeon I cleared. I wonder if he'd be pissed if I disenchanted it first.

I've been hoarding skill points like nobody's business -- still not quite sure what combat specialties I want to focus on.  I kinda want to go two-handed/archery/enchanting, but as someone who plays primarily in 3rd person, it irritates the shit out of me how the weapon on his back clips through the arrow quiver.  :lol

Just made a Daedric bow that does 264 damage + 43 fire damage + 35 shock damage. It's super sexy. My sneak attacks will be super sexy.

Anyone know if Alchemy lets you make better Smithing/Enchanting potions than the ones you find/buy? Best I got right now are +50 smithing and +25 enchanting potions.

Well since there's no upper limit to the amount you can improve things with those three skills scoop up any perk that says it improves your skill or the items you create. The double enchant perk at 100 enchant is also essential.

Fortify Enchanting    Blue Butterfly Wing    Snowberries
Fortify Smithing    Blisterwort    Glowing Mushroom

I realized just today is that there is no set number that corresponds to the item improvement ranks. So when you have a weapon all the way up to (Legendary), it can still vary between kinda-crappy-legendary and legendary-legendary. I've crafted a set of smithing bonus apparel (armor, bracers, ring I believe) and when I'm wearing it, I get better results than when I'm not, even though my base smithing stat is 100 and it already shows up as Legendary when I vanilla improve something. You can make crazy powerful things when you boost everything up with gear and potions.

The 100 enchanting perk is by far the best Master level perk in the game.

They're two of the easiest skills to grind out.

Smithing: Buy leather straps and iron ingots from local smiths. Make a bunch of Iron Daggers.

Enchanting: Take those Iron Daggers and use Petty Soul Gems (either bought or fill them yourself by killing small wildlife) with any enchantment.

Clear Stock: Sell those enchanted Iron Daggers to any merchant and make some money off the training.

BlueTsunami pretty much covered it. Many foxes have lost their souls for my shitty leather bracers of +1% archery.

For optimum results you're gonna have to spend a lot of perks, though.

I just kept on mixing shit throughout the game for money to put into training. Besides Giants Toes + Wheat the real workhorse combo's are reagents that make Slow, Paralyze, Damage Magicka Regain, Damage Stamina Regain and Invisibility. They don't give you the large single gold output of Giants Toe and Wheat but the reagents that make these potions are usually found from stores. One of the first things you want to max out though is the perk that reveals different properties of each ingredient so you can obviously make more of these sort of potions.

Additionally, there's this profitability calculator: http://www.endoftheweb.se/skyrim/

If you don't have enough skill points for that perk yet, you can scan your stock, see what you've got a lot of and use the calculator to find how to get the most out of it.  Leveling is directly proportional to the base value, so that's the best way to go about it.
