5/10. Fun movie for kids and Pokefreaks, and it almost made me cry when the Pokemon brought Pikachu back to life with their tears. The soundtrack was pretty awesome though

Except that it blows and is pretty much totally inessential. It's like he needed a movie and had no good ideas, so he just decided to warm over Goodfellas. He would've gotten away without any hassle if he hadn't done Goodfellas like 2 years before.

As it stands, it just feels like an extremely generic mafia movie. It's so typical. Goodfellas, The Godfather, and The Sopranos all have incredibly memorable characters, too. Casino, not so much. I also would market as the point in which Pesci jumped the shark and people realized that he had playing the same role for the entirety of his notability.

F minus for Casino.

Sam Rothstein and the Pesci character weren't memorable? Hell, even James Wood's character was memorable. So what if he had done Goodfellas already, Casino still stands on its own as a powerful, well-made film.

No it doesn't. And believe me, it takes a lot for me to not like a movie with James Woods in it. I love Vampires. Actually, I'd go so far as to say that Casino makes Vampires look like Goodfellas.

Which version of Brazil is it? What's the running time? Do you know if it's Terry Gilliam's cut of it, or the awful studio cut?

If it's Gilliam's cut, I have no doubt that you'll like it. It's a difficult movie to dislike. I think the only objective complaint is that it's a bit long, and the actress playing the chick Sam wants isn't as "on" as everything else about the movie. I'd say more but I'd have to give up plot points.

Yep, that's the good one. Watching the studio cut is kind of an eye opener. It's not like they cut scenes to trim the running time, they RE-EDITED the movie to make it have a different plot.

The "Love Conquers All" version is most definitely the worst of the lot.

How many cuts were there again, five? The Gilliam cut, the European, the American, the TV version, and what else...?

The Criterion Cut, The Original Gilliam Cut, the Euro Cut, Love Conquers All. The TV version is Love Conquers all. The Criterion Cut is the original Gilliam cut with some added footage from the european cut. I feel like I'm missing a cut, though.

I think the record for most cuts of a single film is Mr. Arkadin, of which there are at least 7.

Also, about Mr. Arkadin, that doesn't really count since none of the cuts truly make the film a complete piece. Its really just various institutions re-organizing random footage that Welles approved of, and even some that was meant to be left on the cutting room floor.

They're still different cuts! The Criterion cut is restored as closely as possible to Welles' original vision. No it will never be complete, but what is there is absolutely incredible and worthwhile.
