CD was the last passable sonic game. anyone who speaks positively about anything that came after is suspect and needs to be kept at arms length.

i don't think i could call myself a sonic "fan". it's hard to call yourself a fan of something you haven't actively liked for almost 20 years. that said, generations is great.

given that at LEAST half of the game (if not more, given that the classic levels suffer from the similarly railed 'mechanics' in many parts) is "something you haven't actively liked for 20 years" how can you call it great?

green hill and chemical zone classic levels are like halfwit bastard brothers of the originals, and you only get ONE act of each

Huh? But it's what I like about Sonic to begin with: branching paths, physics, exploration based platforming that rewards the player the more they know the level.

It is an anti-thesis to what I've experience with Sonic since 3d Blast in that I actually find Generations fun. Chemical Plant Zone isn't as good as the original Chemical Plant, but Sky Sanctuary is better that its original. I like Green Hill Zone a lot.

The icing on the cake are the 2d renditions of 3d Sonic levels. City Escape and Speed Highway classic Sonic stages are great.

I never played any Sonic game except for a bit of Sonic CD, but I guess the "visual stimulus, GOTTA GO FAST" would be the most tempting aspect. I like the BRIGHT COLORS TECHNO-WONDERLAND aesthetic I vaguely associate with Sega games, but I never had any Sega console so never really experienced the games firsthand.

Sonic Generations is like being raped in the ass by a rainbow, you should get it.

I'm sure Sonic 3&K came AFTER CD, and the former is the best package.  As much as I like Colors some aspects of it are obnoxiously automated and I can understand where Prole is coming from regarding modern sonic.  The number one thing they need to do with this franchise is get rid of the homing attack.  It dumbs down the platforming to a qte masher way too often, enemies are a non threat.  Between boost shield and slide tackle there's no need for it.  The other horribly bad aspect is how long Sonic Team lets you get away with holding down the boost button.  There's no conservational strategy required because the copious rings lying about refill the meter.

One thing I liked about Colors in this regard is that you went through that boost juice
a) much quicker
b) it was not replenished by rings, but powerups akin to the running shoes (or acquired from specific enemies).  I imagine this was to compensate the smallerish levels so you couldn't chainsmoke everything in quick succession.  Its one of those situations where a limitation inspired a more beneficial design.
But still, that braindead homing attack :yuck

I can confirm that the protruding item is indeed a tail, not Tail's penis
ex. 1 :nsfw :nsfw :nsfw

My research also suggests that while Tails is clearly a versatile sexual partner as are many characters, Sonic seems to be an exclusive top
