If you're not a gaming industry nerd, you may have never heard of Human Entertainment. Human Entertainment is a now-defunct Japanese game developer responsible for series such as Clock Tower and Fire Pro Wrestling, and during the PlayStation era, it released a rather obscure strategy-RPG called Vanguard Bandits. Vanguard Bandits came out in Japan in 1998, but didn't find its release in North America until very late in the PSone's lifecycle. In 2000, Working Designs, the same publisher responsible for the likes of Lunar: Silver Star Story and Lunar: Eternal Blue coming to PlayStation, published the game in the States. Remember when games were in 4:3?Because of its late and rather non-descript release, Vanguard Bandits is considered exceptionally rare. So it's good, then, that it'll be dropping on the PlayStation Network in North America as a PSone Classic. Ray Almeda of MonkeyPaw Games, the company releasing the PSone Classic, explains the game best on the PlayStation Blog: "Originally published as Epica Stella by Human Entertainment in Japan, Vanguard Bandits was released by legendary publisher Working Designs in North America. The PSone game was loaded with content: 60 different missions, three branching storylines, crazy plot twists and dialogue on the Ruin Branch, five endings and path-crossing narratives." Vanguard Bandits will cost $9.99. There's no word yet on its release in other territories.
