mods please re-name this to the official STUFFING THREAD

The worse thing about STUFFING 2011: my best, most accomplished mac n cheese cooking aunt isn't coming. So there's a possibility my mom will cook it, and her's is always dry  :-\

I'm cooking! the best part about Thanksgiving is not having to think about food for the following few days.  Brain-space is dedicated to video games, and work, family, friend nonsense.  But really video games and turkey.

Dressing > Stuffing - the idea of all that stuff gettin all gross in the bird makes me wanna barf

It's kind of interchangeable in my experience: dressing is always called stuffing regardless of whether it was in the bird or not - at least in my family.

but yea woohoo DRESSING

Yeah we did "Friends Giving" last Friday. Someone smoked a turkey mmmmmmmm

This was the sixth year now of having Thanksgiving with our friends. The couple that hosts every year cooks one bird in the oven, and one in a deep fryer out back. We had a smoked turkey last year, but we've pinpointed that as being the source of the food poisoning that 18 of us got. :lol

My wife and I made two of Momofuku Milk Bar's crack pies.

Ham on thanksgiving, Maurice?? Noooooooo!!! Why?? :haha

Ham is for Xmas dinner!

We have turkey and ham. Personally I'm not a fan of turkey, but I think it's probably because my family doesn't make it well. I'd imagine there's quality turkey out there, I just haven't had it. Ours is usually dry and boring.

Whereas honey baked ham is distinguished mentally-challenged fellow-proof

Spending it with my wife's family.  At least Black Friday is starting early this year so I have an excuse to bail out of that.

This Thanksgiving is going to suck dick though.

I work tomorrow and then off for 5 days. New job :bow2

Everybody's coming to my house. His mom and my mom always make some sides, appetizers, and/or desserts, but they're taking over extra stuff to take the stress off their first grandfetus. Being pregnant :bow2 My husband makes one damn delicious turkey (and I used to hate turkey!), and I make garlic mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, corn, deviled eggs, dinner rolls and a salted caramel apple pie. :drool My mom's making me a ham too, because I used to hate turkey, but now that I love turkey, I just get to be extra fattyfat and eat two types of meat. :drool

My mom wants to come over Wednesday to help me clean and start cooking, since I'm basically an invalid. Being pregnant :bow2 Unfortunately, our house is clean already, so unless she wants to scrub baseboards or flip mattresses, she going to be bored. So I might have her come out to "help" and she can stress test the Dyson while I mop, and then we can go shopping and fuck off all day.

Oh damn, I'll look for it when I go to the store for last minute stuff, but I'm a little nervous about my husband orgasming in front of our families. That's totally up his alley.

Oh yea, more proof that I'm finally turning into a girl? I bought a huge turkey, all of our Thanksgiving stuff, and groceries for the week for $60. Sixty freakin dollars. I saved at least $35 thanks to coupons and strategic sale planning. Like a fucking boss. :pimp

Why do you think we offer to have the whole damn family over to our house? So we only have to do one of these events a year. Also, my mom keeps my MIL preoccupied so I can get shit done and my eardrums are intact at the end of the night.

I need to write down my recipe, but it's basically an apple pie (with fresh apples), and then I make homemade caramel, add in some sea salt, and into a pie crust it all goes.

Sounds more interesting than eating the same old foods.  I actually do have quite a few female cousins who are super into fitness.  Fucking bitches though.  I hardly ever talk to them.

He's not worthy.  I've been killing him ever since I vastly improved my outside shot while my ankle was sprained.  Combined that with the fact that I get stronger every month, he's been manhandled to the point that he doesn't even trash talk me anymore.

Having to do two Thanksgiving meals this year. We're gonna go to the misses aunt's on Wednesday. God knows why we have to go on Wednesday. I personally will be hoping its a failure so that Thursday's dinner is much much better. I've got my turkey in brine already. Gonna make all kinds of goodies. Homemade Hawaiian rolls, garlic mashed potatoes, cran-orange dressing, spicy carrots with green beans, and of course homemade pumpkin and apple pie.

How do they treat you? While I don't think my family would blatantly disrespect a white girl, I do get asked every year if I'm dating a nice church going black girl, and asked "you're not dating a white girl are you...?" "Too many black men are dating them blah blah." At least that's how my aunts, one uncle, and grandma are on my mom's side. My parents wouldn't care

I'm still kind of dreading someone asking my lady friend "what church do you go to?" on Thursday

How about a 77 year old grandfather who no only uses a smartphone, but text's like a crazy teen. He watch's netflix on the phone and plays around with it. We also got him a new internet connected tv and android tablet that he uses now more than his home computer. I got him a 360 with Kinect for Christmas I think he's ready.

Thanksgiving update:

going to the misses aunt's tonight made a few different salads. Its gonna be a disaster with boxed mash potatoes, box stuffing, precooked turkey.

Tomorrow real thanksgiving is gonna be happen'. My brined up turkey is good to go. Made ciabatta croutons, home made apple sausage, and got some other stuffing ingredients locked down. I'm debating about making some  green beans.
