After spending $50 repairing my old fat PS3 and then 5 hours+ trying to transfer my accounts and saves to my new slim PS3. I'm now discovering the joy that is EVERY PS3 GAME I STICK IN WON'T START UP UNTIL IT DOWNLOADS 500megs-1gig+ of updates. So just to test something like if an online pass transferred over, takes 20 mins of updating first. Also trophies taking hours to move to a new system and if there is even a slightest packet drop it cancels the whole thing and you have to start over. This is such a pain in the ass I had to pay 500yen to get a 30 day PS+ account just for auto-trophy syncing so it can keep trying all night while I sleep.

Sony software is awful.

Also my new slim is loud as fuck when it reads the disc. Chugs like a maniac. My old fat was completely silent all of the time.

The hardest part is going to be switching from FIVE YEARS of O = confirm, X = back to the opposite. Already messed me up when I booted Dark Souls and couldn't figure out why I wasn't running.

This is why you play your PS2 games on your ps2. Unless they run perfect in PCSX.

I've never bothered with PS2 BC on the PS3 except to see if the upscaling makes a difference (not really). There are too many good games out every year to bother with ones from last gen. Move on already!

Alright, already had a crash on the new PS3! Yay!

Was installing Tales of Xillia, it got to 100% and nothing happened. System was completely locked up. Had to force shutdown and it had to check if the HDD had corrupted on reboot!

And it froze again, trying to boot the game. Yep the disc drive in this new PS3 is a PoS. It's loud and it has trouble reading some discs. Fuck.

One thing that's weird is I swear Move controls better on the slim. When I set it up again and tested with Dead Space extraction the pointer was really fluid and responsive. Even better than a wiimote pointer. I don't remember it being so smooth and controlling so well previously.

Good games are good regardless when they were made. I've had more fun with lots of NES titles than most of the titles this gen for instance.

Me too. Last night I wanted to watch something on Hulu plus. There was another shitty ps3 update (there is seemingly on every two weeks I swear). I wanted to skip it and just watch Hulu. But you can't unless you update because Sony sucks. So I update. I'm sitting here reading the patch details, and it's for fucking Vita even though thing isn't even in goddamn stores. I'm waiting for the dl to finish and it's taking FOREVER. I fall asleep, wake up and hour later, the time I ORIGINALLY wanted to go sleep and say "fuck ps3".

jk, don't own a 60gb. and yeah, updating shit sucks bad on this system. All in all, I'm actually pretty impressed that they've salvaged the PS3 as much as they have. It used to be 100x worse.

as for your new slim, mine did the same thing. Put felt or rubber pads under it, that reduces the noise/vibration by a lot.
The new slims are made of cheaper parts than the 120gb systems. I think CECH101A is the best slim...I have one but it's my CFW machine...

The firmware 4.0 update took me 3 minutes last night. Huh.

I don't have any complaints with the Slim, but I still miss my 60GB launch unit. :'(

It makes it easier because it will auto sync them, auto patch your games if newer patches are available, auto-cloud backup your save files every night while you sleep.

Should be a default on all consoles, but this gen is about $$$

Anyhow it sync'd them overnight. I'm good now, though I still need to re-activate netflix streaming.

You know, I don't mind paying for PS+, the discounts and free games are worth about what they charge, but it's annoying that + only applies to one account. All my saves/trophies that need to be backed up are on my other account on the same system.

I hate the ugly noises it makes when accepting/rejecting a disk. Also the "beep" sound when turning it on is obnoxious. The slim PS3 just feels cheap all around. The fat PS3 looked like slick gaming hardware or dare I say the Ferrari of gaming hardware. Even the slim PS2 or the PS One didn't feel as cheap.

I was doing that all the time with my 90gig HDD. Could only have 1-2 PS3 games installed at a time. Being on a 160gig (so 130 actually useable) should be nice to have some breathing room).

yeah that beep is fucking obnoxiously loud in my apartment. been meaning to look for homebrew that disables it on my cfw ps3, if there is such a thing.

some games got psn/xbl versions like 3rd Strike

that's about all i'm motivated enough to post in that list. but that covers most of my ps2 favorites. There are some solid games that I could go either way on...shinobi comes to mind. katamari 1.

i'm guessing you're not even gonna post any lists or back up anything, so i'm not sure why i'm falling for your troll

i suppose persona 3, 4, DDS1+2 could use HD ports too, but Nocturne is still better than all of them. I don't have a million hours of life to watch persona games progress at a snail's pace as idiot high schoolers figure out a mystery one tiny, minute detail a day, while looking stylish and being spunky. I could get into DDS2 though.

Ah, FFXII International...i'd kill for that. It'll happen someday, once S-E is done with another set of ports of the first 5 Final Fantasy games on iPhone.
