I seriously have only been getting coal since the first day  :lol

I ended up converting it and got 50% off a universe game.  I regret that decision.

Oh fuck off Amazon :(

I totally should have waited for Steam's Sonic deal. Now $15 is too much for merely wanting to see what "Classic Sonic in 1080 and 60fps looks like."

But I finally got Bastion (Linkzg vindicated) and I'll probably snag something else too.

Today's sale is good. Gaben is good.

crafted next set of 7 coal into = 50% off Dungeons of Dredmor coupon, lol

This is why I'm only doing achievements where they are like playing the demo of a game I own but haven't tried.  It's fun playing a little of these games to check them out; feels like E3 or something, trying 15-30 mins of dozens of games.

But anything that requires work...lol

Bulletstorm is one of the best games this year, if you don't buy it you can go straight to hell and get fucked.

When you posted that I was like "Whaaaat, no way Bulletstorm came out this year, it had to be like October 2010." Nope, February 2011. I guess it's not too late for me to play the 2011 DBS GOTY. :bow2

If I'm online sure; I'm online when I'm in a game, otherwise I'm probably away and I just don't change my steam status.

So playing more gift games:

Bastion - Didn't like the demo, still don't like it, but will play it eventually because everyone seems to love it.  The combat just seems super clunky.
Demolition Inc - Kind of a neat Burnout Crash game, but some parts seem a little too random, like not being able to tell which direction an oil slick or wheel glue will cause a car to turn when it runs it over.  Also -10 points for having a broken monitor detection and not letting me play at higher than 720p on my 1080p monitor or 1080tv.
Atom Zombie Smasher - The mini-game you play for the cheev is a lot of fun when you get the hang of it.  Game seems stylish and cool as well; will probably play this.
X3 - holy fuck is this confusing at first.  Once I got the hang of it, was pretty cool to fly around space and shoot stuff and comm stuff.  I suck at flight games, always tough to track a guy so the auto-follow is nice
Rock of Ages - Loves the cutscenes, like the art/graphics, don't care for the gameplay much.  Rolling is fun but building is zzz

So far I got Dungeons of Dredmor for (I think) $1.75, E.Y.E for $2.50, Dead Island (from Amazon) for $12, and Alice for $7.50. Not a bad haul at all for less than $25, even being broke until the weekend I found a way to manage all that and the $10 for Red Dead GOTY from Best Buy.

Alice is a great game, so very pretty to look at.

Rusty Hearts is actually kinda fun.  It is an :uguu beat em up with stats and whatnot.  The combat system is shallow, but I could see myself playing it in 10-20 minute bursts.

Won my 3rd game: From Dust

Which would have been great if I hadn't bought it for $7.50 in the daily deal a few days ago :\

Gonna see if I can trade it for anything cheap and decent.

Also today's AAAaaaaaaa achievement is balls.  The 2nd to last stage is ridiculous.  Not worth the frustration.  Dawn of War 2 Retribution gift is annoying because you need to do it with a friend so you have it windowed running for 30 mins before you end it.

25% off Dead Island and 50% off some game that's 75% off right now.  Suddenly I want coal again.

Dead Space 2 for $5 ... worth it?

If you played Dead Space 1 and like it, or thought it was boring but had potential, it's worth it.  If you haven't played Dead Space at all, it's worth it.

well it's prettier here.  the story is still whatever.  it still has "jump" and psychological scare moments but overall the game has a lot more action.

depends on what you found boring.  combat is largely the same with various improvements to make it feel like an action shooter (impaling enemies with sawed off limbs and stuff).  the overall structure is changed up.  first off, you're not in the samey looking location the entire time.  there's no backtracking.  everything is a lot more shootery; even the gravity rooms have you flying around with boosters instead of jumping from wall to wall.

I'm playing Extraction (to get ready for DS2) and it's pretty cool.  Too bad it's not on PC with mouse controls.

Picked up the AC games today.  Was going to get Revelations no matter what price cause I want to play it, and picked up the rest of the games to have the sandbox cities at 1080p/60fps/4xAA to run around and climb.  Also got Serious Sam 3 from that $11.99 deal.  I hated SS1 HD so much by the end, but I've heard from several people I trust that if you hate the old SS games, but like shooters, you'll like SS3.

Now my wishlist is basically empty; damn you gaben.  Only need to pick up Lost Planet 2 ($10) and Dead Rising 2 OTR ($20 but hoping for a daily, lol) at the end of the sale.  Will wait for 2012 winter sale to catch up on CoD games and Skyrim.

Are you playing Extraction with a gamepad or the move? with the move it played more or less like it did with a wii remote.  It had tons of waggling in it too.  Extraction was fun.  A bit heavy on the cinematics but I enjoyed the story in it more than the main Dead Space games.  I'm going through the iphone game at a snails pace and it seems good too.

Move.  Controls great and better than using a Wiimote (framerate feels smoother which helps).

I like that it's story based and has good voice acting; that it has path splits so if you replay a level you can see new stuff; that there's lots of hidden junk collectables to find and upgrades for weapons; and the combat feels like Dead Space.

Debating whether to pick up DS2 for $5 on PC and play it on that when I finish Extraction.  Was planning on playing it on PS3 since I own it already there and it has trophies.  But clean IQ and 1080p might make it better to play on PC.

I think the one upside to playing it on consoles is that Campaign DLC (though it might be 360 only).  PC version was great.

Though, the steam version includes suit/weapon DLC, which is weird because you have access to the best equipment from the get go.  Anything that is free in the store shouldn't be available at that point.  So I just played it without touching any of the DLC stuff.

So I can play DS2 on PC, and then the bonus campaign featuring the extraction cast on PS3?

First decent coupon - 25% off Bethesda.

Got Cities In Motion, it's definitely my sort of game but there's very little feedback given to you. You really have to check up on the information the game gives you as to why you're failing. Some of my routes don't seem to drop off passengers either.

I'll field some AC questions since I think me and MAF are the resident AC fanatics.

How's Asscreed 1 & 2 on PC again? I'm more curious about 1. I need to start playing this series.

Tech-wise they are awesome.  Ass1 has INSANE textures on PC.  Looks freaking gorgeous.  They dropped that with Ass2 and on but it still looks very nice and they run great.  Otoh the X360 versions look just "good" and run 30fps & the PS3 versions.................. :lol  we're talking about 15fps with shitty IQ.

As for the games themselves.  Ass1 is TERRIBLE.  It's solid at the start and it's pretty enough to run around climbing the cities, but it'll be a pain to finish it (see: MAF AssCreed replay thread).

Otoh, Assassin's Creed 2 is a wonderful action adventure game with a super entertaining story (and a good one in the MGS wacky videogame sense), lots of varied gameplay, and great cities to follow the narrative through.  It's one of the most memorable AAA games this gen.  If you do everything it's a good 25-30 hour game.

I haven't been able to get more than 4-5 hours into AC1 and AC2. Any reason to think Brotherhood would be any different?

No way unless you don't care about stories and just want gameplay.  AssBro has good gameplay, even better than AC2; but there's only 1 city (Rome) and it unlocks veeeery slowly a piece at a time until the endgame.  The story kind of sucks and is totally irrelevant in the scheme of things and the Desmond portions are pointless.  I'm glad I played it because Rome was a cool location to explore, but the game was completely forgettable and I'll never replay it, just like I'll never replay AC1.

/fingers crossed Revelations is better!

Traded From Dust for Dead Space 2.  So at least I didn't waste $5 double-dipping on a game I already own.  Now I can justify playing DS2 on PC!
