I'll pick one song from each game to avoid clutter

Really unique song for a shooter, never heard anything like it. Best soundtrack this gen.

The Black Label arrange improves Galuda 2's OST tenfold. This is probably my favorite track.

Death Smiles 2's OST is extremely underrated, much like the game itself. This was the hardest game to pick just one favorite from, since nearly every track is fantastic.

Best stage 1 song from any game, period. Never gets old.

Namiki peaked in 2002/2003, when he composed back to back masterpieces with DOJ and Ketsui. Almost chose the stage 1 theme over this though, the vocals set the mood for the game perfectly.

The boss theme to end all boss themes. Shit just got real.

No surprise that the best songs in DFKBL were composed by Namiki (stage 1, stage 5, character select, and stage clear IIRC - though stage 4B's song is awesome because of how insane it is)

So good.

I haven't put a lot of time into Garegga, but this song stuck with me since it's so awesome.

To summarize this post, Manabu Namiki is a VGM god. (And Ryu Umemoto could've surpassed him if he didn't die in his prime.)

Moon theme gets all the love but I like this one better!

Mega Man games have some fantastic music!

If you don't know this one, you don't play videogames:

Medley of Life Force music, I love this soundtrack:

Made the crawl up and down the Darm Tower awesome, amazing 80's synthpop:

Probably one of my top soundtracks ever:

And another:

I mixed a tech house song (Shonky - Mama Queen) into this and it sounded amazing. I'm pretty convinced that this game's music had at least a little effect on my musical tastes:

US soundtrack >>> JP soundtrack, this song being my particular fave:

More Sonic:

Konami was the shit back in the day:

Every Extend Extra has an awesome soundtrack from the days before techno became all mnml

Best Contra OST:

also the best Contra game even though it's not Contra.

Metal Slug 3 has a fantastic OST as well. What's with the best action platformers being longer than they need to be?

Deus Ex (the new one)
Skyrim
Final Fantasy 9 (never played the game, loved the music)

I want to say Mass Effect, because I'm a huge fanboy but I honestly can't remember any of the soundtrack. It just never stood out. :(

Only song I remember from Mass Effect, but it's awesome. (I realize it's not an original song for the game... or is it?)

I thought plenty of the songs stood out:

I remember hearing the main theme during the intro, the song that plays while you're browsing the galaxy map, and I think the last one too... the others I can't remember if I heard them or not. I would be playing the game, and wouldn't hear anything but bullets and other sound effects.  :-\

Maybe the ost is just not my style.  :(
