For that to be true it would have to be one of the top 2 movies of all time.

I watched the first half of Alien last night, just to prepare myself for the Prometheus trailer. After all these years, it's still such an amazing movie.

"Hey, why don't they freeze him?"

That line gets my every time. :lol

I like how they just let the guy who had an alien stuck to his face walk around freely in the ship after it fell off.

trailer did not live up to hype.  It's like 15 seconds of clips too short to see anything much.  Movie will be great (hopefully) but trailer was whatever teaser.

Trailer was gud, but Scott gets no faith from me as he has made more terrible movies than good ones and it would take, like, three Blade Runners to cancel out Gladiator.

Also it's really short.

His strengths seem to be where set design and strong aesthetics are in place and he can be imaginative (like Blade Runner, Alien, Kingdom of Heaven and Legend). I have faith this movie will be amazing.

Redemption for a handsome production that was ultimately kinda dull? Shouldn't be too hard, as long as Prometheus isn't poo.

I didn't think it was possible to hate Gladiator.

Yeah, it wasn't great, but it wasn't hate-worthy, either.

Why do people act like this will automatically be awesome because his last sci fi film - decades ago - was good? Scott hasn't done much of anything worthwhile lately. Were you guys passionately anticipating Avatar because Cameron's last sci fi film was T2? How did that work out

American Gangster was great, and Kingdom of Heaven Directors Cut is one of the best films ever made in my opinion.

Comparing Scott to Cameron is stupid.

And, for the record, I'm interested for two reasons:

1. It's sci-fi
2. It features space exploration

There's far too little of the latter.

I like Alien. And really pretty films. And I like horror and mystery, too. That's the thing, it's in space. And space is basically like a really huge, really dark and entirely bottomless ocean. And even our stupid little oceans have crazy horrors in them, so mystery-horror in space is just a beautiful thing.

I really, really hate it too.  I can't think of a movie I hate more off the top of my head.  Really rubbed me the wrong way.

EDIT:  I thought of a movie I hate more: Wizards.

I've enjoyed just about every Scott movie I've seen. Haven't seen Robin Hood, though.

Have you seen Legend?  It's pretty hard to sit through.  Tim Curry is great tho and whale unicorns are pretty cool.

I supposed in the sense that Cameron is actually a sci fi legend, whereas Scott directed one sci fi film that's considered a classic. But the point remains that this is no sure shot at being awesome, as Scott's recent films have been lackluster outside of KOH DC.

ALIENS trailer had young Sigourney Weaver's butt in low-rise panties.

PROMETHEUS trailer has Charlize Theron, but no butt shot.

I'm calling it now: Clearly ALIENS will remain the superior film.
