Hit with the skin pigmentizer

One of the customization options is to make her skin darker.   :lol  There's two shades available, in fact.  You can do this with other characters too.  I have an 80's style teen Whitney Houston black-Sarah.

Hmm, the sound effects sound compressed to hell.  I'm playing with head phones and the announcer and win quotes are painful to hear.  I'm guessing the arcade version was larger than 2 gigs...

Spent a little time in the dojo...they adjusted almost all of the reflex bnb combos I used for Goh. Got rid of a few, made some harder, changed inputs/timing, etc. I am at maybe like 40% of 4evo strength and I MURDERED the first two people I played. Gotta practice some more, this is gonna be awesome. :hyper

That's a stylistic choice. The arcade version is the same.

Also, you know the hits and whoosh sound effects? Those are literally the SAME ONES FROM VF1. It's like they never bothered making nicer versions of them :lol

The XBLA leaderboards for this game show about 7,000 people total  :-\

I wonder if the PS3 version had better sales. Playing online is pretty much a wasteland.

I'm so bad at this.  I get completely destroyed in ranked matches, but player matches are at a similarly inexperienced level.  Instead of just going into training mode I'm messing around online until I remember how to shuffle with Jacky or whatever.

Last night I started using my neo geo cd controller.  Too lazy to take my VSHG out.

I find it about the same on both platforms.  People seem to be sticking to ranked, too- almost nobody plays player matches.

When victory is in doubt, press P+K, K and hold back to shuffle step.  Repeat until YOU WIN.

Just kidding, but not really.  :bow Jacky flowchart :bow2

(If you can hit verify the counter hit on P+K, press P instead of K for the juggle and follow with forward+P, P, down+K, or some other string, but I believe that one hits most consistently.  I think you can flip kick pretty consistently, too (upback K+G).)

Forward+P is a good one to abuse, too.  Just throw it out there without the follow up strings; if it connects, quickly tap K, if it doesn't, press forward+P again, throw or sidestep.

You shut up, Jacky is awesome.  It's not completely durr-style; it's a simple, early fundamental that also happens to be pretty damn good.  It's a building block.

For further reference, I would imagine most of this still works, but it's based on the 360 OE version of VF5, so it's possible there are a lot of changes.  Damage is probably all wrong.  Not a bad place to start, though.

They moved on after it took Sega like five years to bring an updated VF5 to home consoles.

VF5 also fell off on the arcade charts some years back- people moved on to Tekken.

It was so obvious that this game was going to sell like crap. Sega should have put it out on disc for $40 and at least made some extra money. Not like they'd lose many sales.

Anyway, I've mostly been using training mode to learn how to use Goh. I haven't played online a lot yet but I think I finally know what to do with him. He'd be so godlike if his moves weren't so slow on start up :(

Seriously, VF should have hit consoles again after fucking Super Street Fighter IV. This game should have came out a YEAR ago. It was ANNOUNCED a year ago. What the fuck took so long?

Played up to 2nd Dan tonight. Even at 3-5am EST, there's still a decent amount of people online with good connections, so that's nice at least. So far I'm 29-13. Goh is badass. 8)

I really love playing as Goh, can be so satisfying. Tend to have to work a lot harder for wins, but against scrubs you can just beast.

I haven't been this hooked on a fighting game since SF4. Hands down the GotY, unless I get to play Saidaioujou somehow. :D

I think Goh is pretty easy to use to be honest - that's why I started playing him. He's straight forward and doesn't have tons of combos to learn, so it's just straight up YOMI. So far I'm 146-54 with him. 8)

So I finally got a chance to play this with my old VF4/Evo/VF5 buddy.  We're on pretty equal level and both mid-level, and sometimes high-level players so our sessions are always fun.  Played 5 hours straight, though an hour or so was spent in character creation breaks.  Dressing up your characters since VF4 has been the best thing.  Something about it is just so much more satisfying then character making in other 3d fighters.  Plus the core game is still the absolute best fighter out there.  We can play for 5 hours and constantly be coming up with new strategies to counter each other's new strategies.  My friend's primarily played Lei Fei since VF4 with a little Pai as well.  I mainly stick to Akira and Kage.  I tried playing Eileen and hadn't played her since VF5 so like 3-4 years and I didn't remember any of her moves, lol.  Been a long time.

My Akira and Kage got a lot of changes since VF5.  Akira feels like he got some stuff nerfed, along with everyone getting a bit nerfed due to the dodge attacks being toned down.  But some of his new stuff like his DB+P are really really useful and make up for the nerfs.  He also just got a ton of pure animation changes, so the moves are the same but they look differently and I think that effects their usage as well.  Kage seems nerfed from VF5 as a lot of my old BnB combos that juggled into knee attack don't work and the knee whiffs now.  Even his DF+P juggles seem to whiff unless on counter now.  I need to go through command training and see what new stuff he got to make up for the nerfs.

Pretty excited to start going through all the character's and seeing all these changes.  Feels really fresh and almost like a VF5.5 new game.  Fantastic stuff.  If I can actually get my friend over on a regular basis like we used to in the old VF days, I'll probably rack up another 400-500 hours on this and call it my GoTY again.

Here's some of the cast we made tonight and why the character creation rocks:

GOH

ASIAN LEO MONK

KAGE

EILEEN PAGE THE TIME TRAVELER

EL BLAZE

ZOLDARK WITH THE INVERSE INFINITY GAUNTLET

You can make Wolf into multiple versions of Hulk Hogan and Kurt Angle.   :lol

Dressing up your characters since VF4 has been the best thing.  Something about it is just so much more satisfying then character making in other 3d fighters.

Soul Calibur 4/5 bitch-slaps all the other character customization features in other fighting games.  VF5's is decent (and better than Tekken 6's), but doesn't even come close.
