I sleep through my alarm once every few months.  I find it's difficult to explain to normal people that this is something that just "happens" sometimes.

I haven't "slept through" an alarm in years.  I usually hit snooze and just keep doing it out of stupid habit until I'm late (by like 5 minutes).

But today I slept through it.  Woke up 40 minutes late :(

i used to have this problem until i created a full proof system. i set four separate alarms at 20 minute increments. the increments wake me up gradually over the course of an hour. by the fourth alarm i am awake enough to know i need to GET UP and not just hit snooze. i haven't overslept in over 2 years.

I slept through my alarm last week, but amazingly only by about 10 minutes and made it to work just fine.

FUN TIMES AT WORK today, too- shitloads of people either taking vacations or calling in sick.  The latter will not get paid for the holiday yesterday if they call out (everyone was warned) but that doesn't seem to be stopping a lot of folks.   :-\

I actually got a bigass alarm clock for christmas that's basically a really strong light.  Half an hour before the alarm time it gradually gets brighter.  And then birds start chirping.  Surprisingly it worked this morning when I tried it.  It's not a "GET UP AND OUT" panic wake up.  It's weird.  My first thought this morning was "what? I'm awake. when did that happen?" and I rolled out of bed.  It felt good.

I do the same thing, but still slept through them all today. I haven't done that in forever, especially now with the bladder of a toy poodle. Woke up when I should've been leaving the house. It had snowed in the middle of the night, which means shit for traffic since no one here knows about precipitation. Thanks to the lack of people actually going to work, I got to work the same time I normally do.  :bow2 It's still the worst feeling ever the first thing in the morning though.

I was using that app that analyzes your movement at night and wakes you up when you're in between sleep cycles. I'd set my deadline for 6:30 with a 30 minute window, so the alarm might go off at 6 instead, because I'm switching sleep cycles. It does work, because I would remember dreaming, and then my dream would be over and the alarm would go off immediately. Sometimes I'd wake up after a dream and check the time, and as soon as I'd roll over to look, the alarm would go off. But I just rationalize going back to sleep because I know I can technically sleep another 20 minutes, so it was pretty useless for me.

Usually the hardest part of my morning is getting out of the warm embrace of the shower

I take half hour showers nearly every day.  Standing in the hot shower is one of the few opportunities I have in my day to completely zone out and relax, and I'll be damned before I'm rushed to leave that for some hogwash responsibilities.

I bought one of these a few months back if you're talking about the Philips ones. It definitely helps although it's not perfect. I find with a traditional alarm clock I might feel a 9/10 on the scale of feeling like shit in the morning but with the new one it's more like a 6 or 7.

Same reason apparently, they don't think it'll be a big album or whatever. She should just go independent

I have three alarms.  One that I snooze through for 45 minutes (by 5 minute intervals), one of those old super loud alarm clocks with two bells at the top to let me know I have 10 more minutes and that it's coming down to the wire, and the last alarm that is set for 2 more 5 minute snoozes just in case.

Why don't YOU have three alarms? HM?

Usually the hardest part of my morning is getting out of the warm embrace of the shower

This is the primary reason I won't get a tankless water heater. With that beautiful, never ending flow of comfort, I'd have to find a job where I can work from shower.

Slept through my alarm today too.  Boss called 10 minutes after I was supposed to be there and said "I just woke you up, didn't I?"  followed by a "fuck me in half" and a scramble to get out of the bed.  He laughed.
