while it's hard to argue with the economic benefits, the prospect of acquiring the equipment/skills to make coffee myself terrifies me as it would probably lead to my never leaving my apartment.

its true, sometimes I get coffee just for a reason to go out

Honestly if all you need is a single cup of coffee buy it out at a coffee shop

Yeah, much better to drive to a coffee shop and spend $3 on a large coffee rather than to make it for 30~40¢ and a brief respite from the day, not only while drinking it, but while making it. ::)

It's good for the economy!

I would like a nice french press someday though

You can get a Bodum from practically anywhere for less than $20 and they're all you need.

I had a couple of those at work; they're really great. They're even more "green" than paper filters, because, um... no filters. Dumping the grounds can be kind of messy unless you've got a mesh catch-all in the sink.

My parents have a Keurig and some of the dark roast cups (Black Silk, Parisenne Blend) are actually not that bad. They make pretty dark, big body, low-acid brews. Anything else tends to that that old/overbrewed taste, but I've found the dark roasts to be pretty okay

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Listen up, beer lovers -- you may soon be able to get your suds in grande form. At Starbucks.

Starbucks said Monday that it would begin offering beer and wine at select locations in Atlanta and Southern California by the end of this year, to go along with several locations in the Chicago area that have previously been announced.

Why would I go to starbucks for a beer.   ???

Starbucks as a place to relax, yeah, I can see it.

Starbucks also has breakfast food and stuff now. Sausage and eggs stuff. That's more crazy.

There are a few Starbucks in Seattle that have been selling beer and wine for a while now. Haven't been to one of them, but they carry local bottles.

Porters and Stouts are often brewed with coffee.

Stopped in at Starbucks this morning and they were handing out samples bags of the blonde roast. I'll make it tomorrow morning and see how it is.
