I liked the story a bit better in AA, but AC had better bosses and encounters in its final third.

the open world in ac made the game feel too loose with too much backtracking, but otherwise it was 100% better than aa

This.

When was the last time Nintendo games even fit that description?

F-Zero GX?  Wait, that was Sega.

I think SMG is more of an excuse because Nintendo has been so bad, they make something that almost resembles a good product so everyone starts jizzing to it. Then SMG2 comes out and brings people back to reality, like... oh, well, SMG was good

I could hardly play SMG it was so boring.

AA was good but the last 2 hours of it was totally filler. Which wouldn't normally be a problem but the game was so short! I still had more fun with TP, the Galaxy games and New Super Mario Bros Wii.

AA"s last hours own. The part in the sewers? Filler?

The only bad thing about AA are the shitty boss fights and how often you have to fight titan infused beasts.

i don't get what people see behind the game... the combat system is mashy, the stealth section are fun but the game never does anything to mix them up... i like how the riddler trophy are hidden (kinda feels how a proper 3D metroidvania would work) but hour 3 is the same as hour 1 and that hour 1 isn't even that good to begin with

there i said it! i remember when i said "i guess people that like batman would like the game more?" and oscar was like "well duh? ???" it was just an underhanded way to say i don't think it's that good

the combat system clicks when you try to dodge every single hit and string together a 100 hit combo. Hardly mashy, because if you press a button at the wrong time on the wrong person, your combo flow resets to zero.

The combat in AA is a bit overly simplistic (with the notifications turned on, granted), but there is absolutely nothing "mashy" about it.

Combat in AA/AC is like a dynamic rhythm game.  It's not that deep but really satisfying.

and yeah, playing on Hard (or NG+ in AC) when it removes the hud attack indicators is even better because you start anticipating attacks based on enemy position and body language.

My friend compared it to pinball. It clicked the moment he made that comparison. In order to keep your score up, you have to keep "ball" (Batman) moving, and hit precise areas for bonus points. One fuck up and the ball falls in the gutter, forcing you to start your chain all over again.

Rhythm game comparison makes sense too.

I remember back in 2007 when Nintards would scoff at games like AA because back then it was all about playing games that grandma or their sister's awkwardly hot jailbait friend with DD tits would play.  Now that it is 2012 and that market has moved onto Apple (and to a much lesser extent, Kinect), Nintards salivate at AA or AC level games but can't get them (due to their attitudes in 2007) so now they're stuck overrating SMG and SMG2.

Good times.

Yeah, the sewer part was exactly the part I hated about the game (and the weak final boss). Scarecrow sections were quite awesome though, the highlight of the game.

Would've preferred an actual fight with Croc, but with the way the other boss fights went in that game, maybe that little sneak-y segment was for the best.

I am envious of the batman games, but I don't see how it correlates with Nintendo's stuff. I'm not even sure who the collective is trying to troll here.  All FOUR of us nintards?

For the record I'm not buying Mario/Mariokart 3ds, but you better believe I'm fagging out for Animal Crossing 3ds.

Oh and Skyward Sword is amazing.  Your counter-opinion is invalid if you excuse the hopelessly broken toys that are Bethesda games.

It's not perfect, but the multiplayer aspect of it worked for me. I've never sat through it and played solo, so I can see it not being that great on that front. But for the experience of four people simultaneously playing a 2-D Mario-style game? I thought it was good fun. I'd rather play it over Little Big Planet, and I liked Little Big Planet.

Great level design and it being the most challenging 2D Mario ever. Weak music and some (very slight) waggle are its only flaws.

I think we must have very different ideas of what constitutes great level design.  Just being conducive to speed runs doesn't meet the bar, as far as I'm concerned.  And the waggle -- the spin jump and Yoshi dismount in particular -- was a dreadfully frustrating decision; I couldn't possibly write it off as "slight".

I accept that my friends and I are assholes and will inflict misery on one another at any passing chance, so I'm not taking my multiplayer experience into consideration, but I strongly doubt a more favorable time with it would change my opinion.
