TurboGrafx16 should be in the top 5 systems of all time.

I pay for the occassional ROM on VC and almost everytime I download a tg16 game its a wonderful experience.  I never was aware of the tg16 library growing up so nostalgia isn't clouding my judgement.  I also like how the nes...-ness controller lends an approachable simplicity to the control schemes of its various wares but without the primordial jank that plagues the NES library.  Some sprite work hasn't aged so well but hey this shit is like over 20 years old.

Currently geeking out with Rondo of Blooooood.

It's got a great library of games, especially STGs. Sadly a lot of excellent games (especially for the CD) never made their way over here, like the Tengai Makyo series.

It was the only system at the time to get the first Splatterhouse. So I agree.

Legendary Axe was also fairly fun (crappy sequel though) and the Super Grafx had a pretty good port of Ghouls n' Ghosts. The CD system had Beyond Shadowgate which I remember really liking.

The PC Engine had a lot of good shit, yo.  Probably my most favorite system to collect for, tons of obscure games that never existed on other systems.  Lots of good stuff in both Hucard and CD library.

It also has some of the best shit games out there, with classics like China Warrior and JJ and Jeff!

The Die Hard game released for it overseas is awesome. It's loosely based on Die Hard, heck it starts out in a forest and you enter the lava caverns beneath Nakatomi Plaza. It's a fun little overhead shooter.

It would have been so much better if it wasn't so cost prohibitive back in the day.
