what rpgs am i missing for not having a ps3?

-demon souls
-dark souls
-tales of graces f
-tales of xilia

what else is there of interest?

ps3 is a console that i thought skipping this generation, but with xenoblade i have jumped back into rpgs and are now interested in playing more as I have already played most rpgs on the 360.

ok i didnt knew that dark souls is multiplatform, but how good is it compared to demon souls? I played that at a friend's place and it was freaking awesome.

Waiting on a big shit Mass Effect or what have you is one thing, niche game loving kids who don't jump on shit that they want upon release are damn fools. There's definitely enough exclusive stuff on PS3 to make it worthy of consideration especially with its being import friendly.

the PS3 exclusive jrpg like WKC and Ni no Kuni are apparently not so great. Haven't heard anything about Xilillillia. Heard good things about Graces.

I wish Sony would release a PSP emulator for PS3. Even if UMDs wouldn't work, there are a bunch of great ones on PSN.

PSP is NOT better for JRPG... its just as worse with the crap the PS3 gets, imo. Crappy ass games like Jikandia and Hexyz Force and whatever crap Atlus and Akysus poop out.

No, PSP is a lot better. It at least has one standout (TITS) and quality/improved ports/remakes (Tactics Ogre). I'm not gonna start listing things, but that's more than the PS3.

If he's coming from the 360, there's really not much on the PS3.

then again, Final Fantasy XIII-2 runs 3 frames faster on the PS3!

all of those + valkyria chronicles and while it's not an rpg, check out Folklore.

You can still get the non-LE version of Neptunia pretty easily but the collector's edition is extremely rare... Was looking for the collector's edition for my friend's bday gift, but couldn't find it. Have never been able to find a copy of Ar Tonelico Qoga in the stores though and that's the one I missed the boat on.

There's also a ton of great PS1 RPGs on the Store... if you haven't already played them.

PS3's best exclusive remains Wipeout HD in my eyes though...

Valkyria is still one of the best RPGs. And the Yakuza games if those count. They're like RPGs with brawler combat.

I freaking love Valkria, but as solid as its gameplay is (and its fucking concrete) its mission design isn't always up to the task, and the enemy AI can be kinda pants. Its a game I love but I haven't finished because it can be so effing infuriating, which is also kinda the point of a good TBStrategy game.

I've got an unopened copy of Reasonance of Fate about three feet from me, I should get around to that.

Every few months I think about buying a PS 3 but I just can't get myself to pull the trigger. I waited too long. I don't have that hype in me anymore for it. The only real reason I want one is to play MGS 4 and to do that retail therapy thing where you buy something new just to make yourself happy for a week to fill the void. But I know I wouldn't touch the thing after a week or two. Same with the Vita but at least that's new. Maybe I'll save my retail therapy for the Wii U...

The exclusives on the horizon on that system don't interest me and I'd rather play the third party games on the system I already own with my achievements and such. Maybe next time they do another price jump or I find some crazy cheap deal I'll feel compelled.

yeah Valkyria is so good. The sequel does a few things better with more depth to the character classes and all that, but the story and mission design (for the most part) in the first game is 10x better

Dark Souls is better. imo, it's also easier but not really. The encounters aren't toned down and it's mostly how the systems were changed to be more forgiving. In Demon's Souls, when you died you were stuck at 50% health, or a boost to 75% using a ring; in Dark, unless cursed, you're always have 100% HP. The health item is replenished for free, so you can freely chug them down without worrying about restocking. Things like that.

But on the other hand, you could hold a billion healing items at once in Demon's Souls, while you'll normally only have 5 Estus Flasks your first time through Dark Souls. Unless you use humanity to reinforce the bonfires.

that's true, though, I never did that. I'm stingy and would rather level up than purchase health items. In Dark Souls I was more comfortable with using the flasks because they'd refill at the next bonfire. I had most important bonfires reinforced in my first playthrough. And I think I only used humanity as a health item once.

When the fuck can i start playing in FFXIII-2? The intro seems to be a billion hours long with boring QTE scenes. So Squeenix learned nothing after all
