Are there platform specific wacky bonus characters? I haven't been following this aside from seeing pictures of girls with big breastises

Just Ezio this time, and for whatever dumb reason, if you buy the game at Best Buy you get Dampierre, who will be DLC for everyone else later on.

The character creator is fucking crazy...you don't start off with too much, but just being able to change textures and add decals can really change shit up.

Online seems decent so far...definitely better on 360 (no surprise there).  Nice lobby system too.

It might sound weird but I lost more and more interest in SC as the character creating become more and more of the game.  I like my fighters being about a dozen or two unique and memorable characters that you want to learn and become good with.  Learn how to fight as and against.  Having a character creator so you fight generic looking characters with boring generic movesets stolen from other characters really turned me off of SC.

I love SC 1&2, don't remember III at all and IV was fun for a few weeks but didn't keep my interest.  Not even going to buy V.

Nope. I still have my Dreamcast and I still have SC, no need to buy this.

I gave II, III and IV a chance and none of them came close to Soul Edge and Soul Calibur. After reading the shit they have been saying about removing and "speeding up" some of the reset frames there was never a chance of me buying this unless they reintroduce them.

Really, I just want to get online and have some fun, and this game's netcode is better than SCIV's.  Hopefully it ends up being a lot more balanced, too.

yeah, the lack of zasalamel really irritates. i played with zwei a bit, but the weird cyborg teleport werewolf thing is super fruity. i'll probably main him anyway, because the rest of the cast is SNORE. i might use alpha patroklos when i unlock him, because iaigiri is awesome and i liked setsuka's fighting style.

GIVE ME MY MIDRANGE SCYTHE WIELDER.

also pyrrha is the worst fighting game character ever.

I like the Sophitia/Cassandra fighting style, but man is her character just ANNOYING...and this is why Create-A-Soul is awesome.  Still weird having a character say something positive when winning and still fall to his/her knees.

Still need to try her brother out.

Naww, for me is goes SC, then SCIII then SC II then the PSP game then IV.

I get that they are trying to make SCV more "fun" by making it faster, but it's really just going to break the balance and make old school technical players shrug and move on. At least thats what I'm doing

Man, I hate creating characters. Let me play the damn game.

So don't create a character...pick one of the regular ones and play!

Its almost impossible to create a "cool" character in create a character.

You need to get more parts unlocked and spend time with the texture customizations and such.  I dunno since I'm not really messing with that mode until I get everything unlocked.  I created a Devil Jin when I got his style on PS3 just to try the style...which is pretty damn fun to use!

Nope. I still have my Dreamcast and I still have SC, no need to buy this.

I realize SCIII wasnt great technically, but as I said I like it cause of those holiday memories =L

SCV seems like it punishes people who use guard impact and a defensive playstyle, which is bad. Last thing i want is the Tekken button mashing crown in SC. Of course I'm just speculating based on video and reviews, I'll have to spend a few hours with it to really know.

1. Mashing is gonna happen from idiots regardless and you should be able to punish that nonsense if you know how to play.
2. There are videos out there showing the guard impact/parry system in use and it's no more "punishable" then parry attempts have been in other Soul Calibur games.

The game play itself is very solid.  What we don't know yet is how balanced this game is going to turn out to be, but initial impressions have been favorable.  Some have said that Devil Jin may end up being banned in tournaments (according to 8wayrun's rules) but it's still too early to decide.  You can do some crazy combos with Devil Jin, but having no weapon also means no reach whatsoever.

I love these "character X isn't in the game, no buy!" remarks....try someone new.  It's not like the returning characters are exactly the same, either.

People whine and complain that fighting game sequels are rehashed over and over again, then the devs do something different and/or change up the cast, and people continue to whine and complain.   :lol

But I'm right there with you guys if this ends up being SCAMCO and the missing characters -or their fighting styles- end up being DLC.

I think the disc has already been checked and nothing was found.  The only fake DLC unlock-key character is Dampierre, who while a joke character (he is this game's "Dan"), is AWESOME.  He seems to be a lot more fun to use than he was in SC Broken Destiny.

:bow :bow2

Sounds like SF3 syndrom.  So game will probably bomb and be forgotten even if it's good.

Has a Soul Calibur game ever bombed?  It's also not like SF3 since most of the cast has returned or have been replaced with characters with their fighting style.

SCV feels more like tekken with swords and less like sword fighting- lame

It feels like SC has felt like since SCIII.   ???

new cast feels mostly generic, new super moves are stupid- wtf

The critical edges really aren't new.  They were also in the original Soul Edge, and have now been made easier to do.  They work great in combos and as counter attacks.

sc3 remains my favorite soul calibur. about the only good thing i can say about sc5 is that it has awesome stages.

Yeah fuk the haters, 3 was fun

I don't play in tournies so I had fun with SCIII too.  But it was unbalanced and full of problems.  I don't see how you can like SCIII and not care for SC4 and SC5, unless it's just that you're tired of it and it feels like more of the same.
