The only thing I care about in open world games and RPGs and all the AAA fuckfests is the freeroam idea of controling a character in an interestingly simulated world. RDR is mechanically subpar, and Bully and Saint's Row completely inept, but I like them for the world simulation, secrets to find, NPCs to dick around with, scenery to admire and maybe, hopefully, the (somewhat) emergent things you can make happen. The thing in Bully where you can scatter marbles across the dorm entrance and set off the fire alarm so that everyone trips on their way out is worth more to me than any mission or story moment.
