I have avoided it and never thought I really needed it, but the DMV is a bugger so now.... I am a glasses wearer.  As if I didn't look nerdy to begin with.

I used to think the same thing as etolate - no way is anyone pointing a fricking LAZER at me eyeballs! - but man, if there's one thing I wish I could change about myself, it's this fucking magic eye...

I dunno. I have benefits nowadays so I might give it a shot.

My dad got it a while ago when they still had to cut stuff around the eye...I think they've progressed a great deal since then. And my dad hasn't really had any major problems since. My uncle had it done too.

I was considering Lasik, but I have really sunken eyes with dark circles around them and I can't really do anything about them, so having slightly tinted glasses actually makes me look better.

Well, I think he had to get some special eye drops a couple of times. I'm not really sure.

I have been wearing glasses since 11th grade, and fuckloads of braces before then.  Yeah, I hated high school.

Contacts aren't bad, but as a stoner my eyes get irritated with them.  I've been a glasses only guy for about 10 years now, and I doubt I'll go back.  I'm due to get new glasses, but I hate getting them.  I'm of the school of thought that they just make your eyes lazier and lazier.  Maybe one day I'd consider Lasic, but I don't know.

My mom's business parter got that shit in the early 90s and has/had halos at night.  Of course he was an idiot for being one of the first, and I don't think he regretted it, but yeah.  That's gotta suck.

They dont make your eyes lazy :p Mine leveled off years ago and the doctor said as people get older their eyesight can often get a little better. People who's eyes go straight to hell and require bifocals and what not have it in their blood, nothing can be done.

Now wearing glasses that aren't enough, afaik THAT can cause problems.

I got tired of contacts. Glasses are easier and give me a lot more character, I think I look pretty plain without them. They're like a fashion accessory to me, rather than a tool to correct my vision.

Hmm, perhaps I'm going about this problem ass backwards.  I'm quite sure that the next time I get glasses it will be like seeing anew again.  Of course, over the course of 13 years this is only my third prescription, so whatever.

I'm susceptible to infomercial advertising.  There is one called the See Clearly method that supposedly teaches your eyes how to get stronger.  I'm sure it's a scam but I'd love to have 20/20 vision again :(

The worst thing about glasses, especially in the south (and as a sweater), is that mine fog up when it's humid or, I'm sweating.  That and rain make me hate wearing glasses sometimes.

I wear contacts AND glasses.  I switch between them depending on the circumstance (what outfit I'm wearing, how tired I am, how many hours of sleep I've had...etc.).  I almost always wear glasses when I'm at home though.

Eye exercises probably have more to do with preventing the actual condition of lazy eye, but straining your eyes themselves causes headaches and doesnt actually provide significant, if any, improvement in vision.

Each time I get new glasses I get a new perscription, but the difference between each is smaller each time. There ARE some people who just end up with shit eyes, thats kinda a part of growing old.

As for the fog up shit yeah thats annoying. I BELIEVE there's a special coating you can get on your glasses for a little extra that prevents fogging.

I wasn't talking "lazy eye" per se, I was merely suggesting that glasses make your eyes "lazy" making your eyesight worse over time.  Lazy eye is completely different (I had one corrected at age 2), my bad on using "lazy" terminology.

But yeah, it's probably an old wives tale anyway.

Also, if youre nearsighted you should read books and whatnot without your glasses on, i guess reading books with glasses on while youre nearsighted messes with your eyes. Least thats what ive always been told.

I was first prescribed glasses when I was in elemantry school, but I hated wearing them and wearing them made me feel funny/off-kilter.  Instead I just tried working on my eyes, tried focusing and eye exercises.  I went back to an opthmologist years later and my eyes were 30/20, which is just fine.

What I have now is mostly for reading and driving.

Yeah I usually read without my glasses just cause I can.  That was another thing I hated about contacts, when you take them off you can really tell that something has been on your eye all day.  Although I've heard horror stories of glass/hard contacts back in the day, these breathable soft ones today (or 10 years ago) still starved your eyeball all day.  You could feel your eye breathe as you took off the contact, I didn't like that feeling.

edit: I can't see shit unless I put the book really close to my eyes, so I have no choice at this point.

No no what I was told was that reading with powerful glasses on tends to cause your eyes to draw towards the center. However say for example I play Gunpey on my PSP, well after 20 minutes of that it takes a full minute for my eyes to adjust to any other distance haha. Everythings a freaking blur cause I was so focused.

I had astigmatism since I was 3 and wore glasses until I was 12 and a half when over the summer I didn't wear glasses and when I put them back on to go back to school, they felt like shit and the doctor said that my eyes "healed" back to 20/20.  I liked glasses but that just made me mad.

The dark glasses look good on you and natural.  They offered me up some dark thicker rims and were like "these are sort of in style" and I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EMO FRAMES!!!!!  So I got almost nonexistant frames.
