they turned it into a frustrating mess with one of the updates so i quit playing

it was a fun and relaxing building game, then they started to focus on the "survival" part of it by making the common enemies annoying and overpowered

yeah, I quit playing for the same reason ... I just wanted to dick around and have fun exploring and building, but eventually every blue slime took like 22 hits

I haven't played Terraria since just after release so I had no idea they'd borked it up.

The only Terraria guy involved with this is the pixel artist, everyone else is fresh blood. Hell of an ambitious first project, but if they manage to get even half of it right then it'll be gloooooorious.

I have been avoiding browser games by-and-large but, intuitively, it feels like one of the dangers of these online games which constantly tweak their in-game values based on usage data is that they can see what things are being abused or too simple to achieve, and end up tuning the wrong thing.

If they can implement all that and make it work, then this could be an incredibly awesome game.
