I don't understand why laptops still seem to be using the same resolution as 5 or 6 years ago.  I'd like to see Apple implement this technology into OSX and their macbooks in the future.

I'll be getting one of these in a few weeks, a 32 gig white one I think.
You can find plenty of 1920x1080 laptops.

More than that isn't needed unless you like watching everything in blur mode (non native res).

1920x1080 laptops in the same screen size range as the iPad?

I think I'm gonna bite. I can still sell my iPad 2 for $350, so this is pretty much a $150 upgrade for something I use EVERY DAY of my life ...

i don't think i'd advise getting a 16GB, app file sizes are gonna be nuts once they all start updating (something that is also going to piss off ipad 1 & 2 owners, i'd guess)

Tried my father's iPad.  He got the 16GB model and is already down to 10GB free.  The res bump feels lost on everyday stuff like browsing, but video looked great. Seemed like there was some ghosting.  The iPad also felt noticeably heavier.  Didn't feel like a huge leap over the iPad 2 to me...just heavier.  :p

I would totally use one for comics however...colors are better and Cormac already showed the difference from the previous model.

I'm not really worried about app sizes - my phone is my app machine; my iPad is more for browsing and streaming, and I never have more than a gig of comics on it at a time.

The AT&T WiFi+4G model is locked to the carrier, and there's no legit way of unlocking it right away, correct? I'd like to buy it as a gift and ship it to a friend, and I'd like to know my options.

I've noticed it heat up when downloading, yeah. Not a huge problem so far.

Ecstatic that comixology is updating to support higher-res files, which will be available as free upgrades. The existing files already look way better on iPad 3 so I imagine the HD versions will be truly amazing.

I noticed because sometimes in bed at night I get a little tired and lay in on my chest with no shirt to rest my eyes for a second. It felt like I almost burnt myself when I did this recently. That never happened on the ipad 2. It got warm. But this one got actually hot I would say. It reminded me of how laptops used to be 6 or 7 years ago.

It's probably a software problem, and will be fixed with an update soon.

I only get system and game sounds through headphones. I can watch a video and have it come through the speakers, but all other sounds are muted unless I lug in headphones.. What the fuck

Had to change side switch from orientation to sound, flip it both ways, then set it back to orientation.

Local news had a report how the heat is causing it to go into "cool down" mode pretty often for some peeps. Anyone experience this?

Some of the early iphones did that too. I wouldn't be too concerned unless it becomes widespread.

At first I was like damn, but then I realized they're using Fahrenheit. 3 degrees centigrade is nothing to be worried about, imo.

At some point, comics publishers are going to realize that digital comics don't need borders BECAUSE THE IPAD ALREADY HAS BORDERS.

comixology could at least let you resize + lock whole issues, but they don't.

the HD stuff is spectacular - although you might not really notice until you go into Guided View. Each panel is crisper than a regular comic page on prior iPads :o
